Actually what I listed was really goth metal/symphonic metal, not symphonic rock.

I love classic progressive rock like Yes, but that's a whole different kettle of fish...

That is the exact answer I got too, but they also mentions that JVC may stop the production of DX1000 (maybe just the HA-DX1000 version).

I'm surprised nobody on this thread seems to be considering (or mentioning) the DX700 as an alternative which is said to have tighter bass and improved headband comfort?

That is true... But I suppose those semi high end is not that hot. I think there is many going for the HD 650 since it´s supposed to be an upgrade from the HD 600 as it cost more

It´s a bit odd since it seems 99.9 % of the head fi population get the DX 1000. I can´t remember ever seing the Dx700 from an actual owner. Just some that has listened to it.

The DX700 (with import taxes and all) will cost you the same as the HA version in the EU I think, thats why I went for the DX1000.

And for the 600 vs 650 story, the DX700 got released after the DX1000, the 650 after the 600. So its more likely that the DX700 is a downgrade of the DX1000 instead of an upgrade, otherwise they wouldve called it the DX1500 or something

The improved headband on DX700 is interesting tho and much needed on the DX1000, but you cant put the DX700 headband on the DX1000 I think I read about that here. :<

I am also interested how DX700 sounds, if dx-1000 is discontinued we need some kind of a backup

If my DX1000 ever dies, I might buy the DX700. But until then, I'm not sure I will ever get the chance to hear one.

I received Headroom micro amp today, out of the box impression I had was that it made my dx-1000 sound like denons, bass actually became overpowering but over all sound became tighter and livelier, I feed it with D10. I am happy at this stage but micro amp is much better fitted for HD650 which sounds very nice and 325i, I never knew 325i could be sooo bassy

I actually don`t like 325i so bassy and smooth, I miss old grainy and sharp 325i. Anyhow I am thinking of getting Nuforce HDP as office dac/amp setup, wonder how it will sound with dx-1000....
