Might be selling my FXT-90's LTD Red soon. :frowning2:

The sound signature just doesn't suit my needs unfortunately.

How do these compare with other IEMs in the ~$100 range? I listen to a wide range of music including rock, electronic, and alternative.
E.g. Yamaha EPH-100SL, Rock It R-50, Shure SE215, and others?

I have Yamaha EPH-100, Rockit R-50 and JVC FXT90. I have not heard Shure SE215.

Most detail: R-50>FXT90>EPH-100
Most bass: FXT90 or EPH-100
Smoothest: EPH-100. To my eras FXT90 can be more sibilant than R-50.

All 3 are excellent. FXT90 is the hardest to wear over-the ear. EPH-100 has least cable-noise when worn straight-down againt others worn straight-down. When worn over-the-ear cable-noise is similar for all three. R-50 is made to be worn over-the-ear.
FXT90 places bass more forward. R-50 places vocals most forward of these 3 and if I had to choose, my choice would be R-50.
EPH-100 has the most likeable sound signature to most people, I would say.
FXT90 has the most immediate wow-factor because of the agressive presentation.

How would this earphones compare with the Ultimate Ears UE700? I've enjoyed the clarity and separation from my UEs but they're currently having the headphone jack reterminated so I'm considering these.

i own the 700's and the 90's, and right now I'm enjoying the 90's more. My 700's have always been my go to for clarity and separation too, but since I've given these 90's about a week or more of heavy duty burn in, the sound has softened, cleaned and refined itself, and I'm hearing things in my music that I also heard with my 700's, only with far superior bass in the 90's. So you can't go wrong with the 90's after burn in.

i listen to rock and alternative and metal, and after a week of burn in, my 90's are superior to all my other IEM's in handling the intricacies of those genres. I even sold my Sony XBA-30's and TDK IE800's because neither was as capable with metal, rock, and alt than my 90's.

+1. EPH-100's are a great metal and rock iem. So are the vsonic VSD1S and the AT EP1. Still waiting for my S2's and T-PEOS to arrive, but those two will most certainly be put to the metal test soon.

Yeah you should man, epic for electonic music. I concluded that I prefer them to my old Yams EPH-100, btw there are new models out of both Tenore and Basso:
