what were the main differences if you dont mind me asking?

The custom has more clarity, transparency, weight and depth. More quality of bass with more depth. The highs are more forward, however, in the FXT90. I wouldn't say they extend further than the quad though.

Listening to the GR07 - finally - and I think the mids are better than the FXT90 and there is more clarity. Also, I still feel that the drums are better in the GR07, but the drums in the FXT90 have come along quite nicely.

FXT90 has more dynamic range, more quantity of bass and less potential for sibilance w/warmer mids vs GR07?
Maybe FXT90 is better for rock and GR07 for strings, piano and classical music?

As an aside, for $70 more than GR07, is the e-q5 worth it?

It will be hard to measure the worth of the EQ-5 to the GR07, only way to be certain is to try them both yourself and keep the preferred one. Please refrain from getting this thread OT, I don't even think Eric has heard the EQ5. I provide an answer on Joker's thread.

Thanks for the feedback Shotgunshane, appreciate that. There' another problem that I have encounter whereby I hear something like tuck, tuck, tuck when I'm turning my head in both direction. Sounds to me as if it is coming from the driver strain relieve but I'm not really sure because it sound perfectly ok otherwise.
Anyway, do you think is normal and could it have something to do with driver flexing?
Any feedback from any of you guys here would be greatly appreciated.

I personally think you should send back for a replacement - I would if I were you, I don't think you'll be happy until you know that they're going to be like that or you have a defective pair -

I did exactly the same with my iPhone 4S when I got it, there were slight imperfections where the glass meets the plastic around the edge, so I went to my local store and swapped it for a brand new one - To find out it had the exact same problem - So I just got the manager to get 5 of the phones out to have a look out and pick the best one

- I'm pedantic like that.

Hi Varley, thanks for the suggestion and will look into it. Anyway, do you have any mircophonics issue with your set as mine seems quite bad as compared to my SE215.

@Leo888

I did have microphonics with the standard tips, and it's still present, but has settled down a bit with the foam tips - I also have the chin slider just above my adams apple so that helps.

@yugas

I believe with dynamic drivers (like on the FXT90's) the seal you create when you insert the IEM nozzle/tip into your ear causes pressure inside the IEM - If that pressure can't escape quick enough or out of the IEM, the driver flexes inwards (unnatural) and this causes a horrendous crunchy sound (like the sound of cellophane wrapping being screwed up) which can in turn cause the sound to be muffled - The drivers are very very fragile so not much pressure is needed to cause it (if you've ever touched one) - I'm not sure how you can prevent it or why some sets do it and why others don't.
I assume it's down to the individual and what seal they get with certain tips (my left ear flex is WAY worse than my right) -

This is my take on it anyway - I'm no technical specialist

Hey thanks Varley, that help clears up the issue for me. Anyway the tucking sound I heard seems to be due to microphonics as mentioned by inks. It's strange that it seems to occur less often now with more use. Maybe I'm being a little paranoid but thanks to all you helpful guys out there, I will just take it as it is and just enjoy the phone.

Ahh, microphonics. That makes sense.  I don't know why I didn't think of that.  If you wear them over the ear it virtually eliminates it or the included shirt clip can help for when wearing down.

Inks is correct. I haven't heard the e-Q5.

I just want to chime in and say that I am a new FXT90 owner. So far, they are the best IEM's I've heard...(not that I've heard that many
