updated impressions:

- after 30 hours of burn-in/listening in the first week, the static/noise that was present when it was plugged into the iBasso T3 - LOD - iPod Classic setup is gone!  i can touch/bend/pivot the plug and it will not result in any static/noise
etysmile.gif

- settled on the stock small tips after trying the stock mid and meelec balanced gray double flange tips

did most of my A/B comparisons with the RE0 using iPod classic headphone out, and i prefer the FXT90's as it has bigger (i can only hear wider, not 'deeper') sound stage, and better bass.. i'm not too analytic when i listen to my music.. so i just prefer the FXT90's as it's more fun to listen to (and closer to the PK1 sound)

will try to A/B FXT90 and PK1, now that the static is gone, and i can use both with the iBasso T3

If anyone is looking for a pair of these brand new and un-opened, without having to deal with the yucky shipping overseas. I have one, that I have in my possession. I have decided to not open them and just sell them off.  They are authentic and have a full factory warranty.

I've been torn as to whether these should still be in the running.  Can someone comment as to how they sound on classical?  I listen to equal amounts of pop/rock/alternative and classical (opera, orchestral, voice). I know at least one person was waiting until they got theirs to comment.
It's mostly between these and dual BA's at the moment.  Thanks

well I listened to my friends.  I liked them ALOT. but I would rather upgrade to um3x westone.  Everything is very musical.  I feel very center-staged when listening.  Its such a natural warm feel with the large soundstage. If you need a pair. I have a brand new un-opened authentic with full warranty pair I can ship CON-U.S. for cheaper than any price on ebay.

Ok, I'll keep you posted - if they don't disappear, lol. Can you PM me a price so I know what we'd be talking about?  Appreciate it!

I apologize for that.  And I actually did ask for/receive a PM.

And just as a heads-up - even though I'm on a headphone site (and everyone seems to assume this) - I'm not a guy.  I'm a female.

Lol I wondered that after I made my post :-). I also saw your request for a PM so should have been more specific. I was actually more concerned neither of you get in trouble for forum etiquette infractions. Never know when a moderator might happen into a thread :-).

Actually I have brand new pair of FXT90 in my ears bought locally from a major retailer in Canada with full Canadian warranty and I believe the US is also on the verge of selling them as well. I hate to say it but for the pairs bought from Japan I think your stuck haing to get warranty from the seller assuming they will honor the warranty. If you bought them from EBay you might want to throw on some Squaretrade warranty on them.

I will post impression later tonight but I can say they will mostly be positive.

No worries on the first part

and thanks for watching our backs.

I'll be curious to hear your thoughts.  The main thing holding me back on these is sound isolation.  I'm going on a long flight next month and don't feel anything I have will work.  I'd love to hear if they work for classical and rock/alternative equally well. I forget - do they have a chin slider?

ahh I gotcha... Well Yeah, I can always just contact the seller. hopefully I wont have to worry about breaking them, as I wont be doing any strenuous activity with them.  thats what my others are for :)
of course.  I think they have to honor a warranty anywhere... I mean. If I called them and offered to pay shipping both ways, I'm sure they would be like "WE WUD RUV YUU TO SEND DEE UH JVCFXT90's BACK TO URSS"

Ok some early impressions are that these have slightly more bass than I like and slightly less mids, but I like the treble (mostly anyway as I do find it a bit hot). If I bump the mids up slightly and the midbass down slightly (see picture) I prefer the sound as they become more intimate and less bombastic. But hopefully this will change with some burnin. I definitely can see why they are popular and at the price they are selling in Canada right now and the even lower price they will be selling for in the US makes these a no brainer and I would think one if not THE BEST deals for under $100 especially with no hassles for warranty, shipping etc.

As for the genre's you listen to, they are OK with classical but not as nice as my MDR 7550 due to a smaller sound stage and slightly less transparency and instrument seperation. I do like them better with rock though but again not as much as the MDR 7550. But the 7550 is also a $240 IEM (and usually $300) so should be better.

But please keep in mind these may change as I let them burn in. But I do have to say at this point if they don't improve I will likely take mine back to the store and get a refund. BUT unless your already using expensive IEM's or want to spend alot more money do NOT TAKE MY FEELING'S as gospel on these as they really are a nice IEM, just maybe not the ones for me.

Finally as for isolation, these are more isolating than my MDR 7550 and about the same or similar to the GR07. In fact speaking of GR07 if I was to make a small recommendation, I persoanlly think they did classical better and alternative roock possibly as well. But again that's jut my opinion.
