Would love to hear your impressions of them and maybe comparisons to the GR07 and W4. I came really close to buying these but went with the FI A1's instead. Might end up getting these too though depending on how the A1's turn out.

Will compare as soon as they come in.

So my FXT90 is on the way, sent by some sort of Japanese slow snail mail (probably why shipping is so slow). They said to expect delivery anywhere from one to three weeks. I'm patient. I switch every other day between the GR07, W4 and 7550 (the Quads mainly for weekend and nighttime listening). My ears love me and my wallet still isn't speaking to me.

.... I hope to make it to my wallet sometime soon before newer custom items come out...lol

Today I listened to some of Zakk Wylde and Radney Foster's acoustic stuff and it was great on the FXT90.  Really good acoustic guitar and intimate vocals when called for.  The more I listen, the more I enjoy.  Of course the GR07 is that way too.

The FXT90 arrived about a half hour ago.. I ordered them from AccessoryJack on 10/13.. so total time from order to delivery was 10 days.. well done, AJ!

I'll hold off on any in depth review until they burn in & I get more acquainted with them.. but in the very short time I've been listening to them (less than a half hour).. I'm DAMN IMPRESSED.

What I noticed immediately was the deep, punchy bass.. but no significant (or even mildly present) midbass hump.  The upper midrange & treble is, as expected, hot and edgy.. there's a fair bit of congestion.. take all that with the tiniest grains of salt as they've been in my ears for barely 30 mins.  I can already sense a tremendous amount of potential in these phones.  They possess a very immersive, powerful sound.  As reported the soundstage is average (but more than satisfactory, personally) in width but has excellent depth.

Eric: the GR07 has officially met it's match.  You're gonna like these.

...OH  BOY!! Those are some powerful words coming from FlySweep! He probably knows my preferred sound signature better than anyone on head-fi.org (throw in luco and cn11)... So now you're going to make the weight even more tougher!! Have you ever heard the FX700 @ FlySweep. I would like more comparison (Inks? shotgunshane?) on how the FXT90 stack up and fails against the FX700, please?

I think the FX700 has better clarity in the mids, which meant hearing some vocal nuances easier but drums are much better on the FXT90 and timbre is pretty much equal for the most part.  As Inks as said it's coloration done well.  Very fun, very addicting.  I sold my FX700's after having both of them at the same time.  That really says it all.

Oh and Flysweep, if you have some Jays silicones, they are my favorite tip for them.

I can't speak for the FX700 since I haven't heard them, Eric.. but in direct comparison to the GR07, I'm really impressed by the timbre and quality of drums from the FXT90.  The GR07 sounds more airy and smooth at this point, but the FXT have an energy an immersiveness about them I don't hear in the GR07.  I hear a lot of similarities between the two phones.  To think the FXT can match or better how the drums sound on the GR07 (one of my favorite aspects of the Vsonic phone) is quite surprising to me.

Shane, I might have to get my hands on some of those Jays tips.. seems many rave about them.. though the stock (medium-sized) tips on the FXT-90 fit perfect for me.  I literally took the phones out of the packaging and stuck 'em in my ear.

Stock tips are good too.  The Jays have a smaller bore and tame the treble just perfectly for me.

Looks like Jaben is selling them in some weird bundle and they have the XT backwards.

Lol, what an odd approach, a bundle eh? I get the portable amp and earphones part, but 3pc bundle?

Couldn't help but notice an $899 bundle with an unspecified 'Includes mystery earphone'. lol

With a few more hours of run in, the upper mids' edginess has refined a bit.  It's still bright but not sibilant, per se.. just impossibly crisp.  Crisp, tight, synthetic snare hits you commonly hear from 80's pop records have an articulate snap to them that would put some BA's to shame.

I'm listening to Michael Jackson's "Thriller".. and the the FXT90 is simply devouring it.  The superb instrument separation, impressive clarity, and pinpoint imaging is really something else for a $150 phone.  These have really excellent control & dynamics from top to bottom too.  I get the sense music feels like it can "breathe deep" when run through the JVC.  In complex pieces, the phones never feel strained or struggle to keep all sounds in their place.

Leaving out the Sony's freakishly wide soundstage, the FXT-90 is everything the EX600 wish it could be.

These seem very intriguing indeed.  I wonder if I could get some comment on how these sound at lower volume listening levels, particularly in comparison to the GR07s.

Also, since FlySweep brought up the comparison to BAs, what would any of you say about how these hold up in terms of clarity in the mids compared to similarly priced and admired single BAs  (like the Phonaks)?

Thanks in advance for your thoughts.

Lol, well thanks guys, I couldn't resist the urge to get these. I was a big fan of the JVC FX500 so I figured I'd try another innovative design of JVC's. They came in today, and I'm in agreement with shotgunshane, probably the most musical in-ears I've had. Don't remember having such a positive first impression this much since the e-Q5.
