@fleasbaby those look fantastic. I'd try adding some damping first. Usually a small container means less low end.

Thanks!
I have done a little listening and realized that if I turn off the bass boost on my E12 (duh) everything is rather nice and normal. Lower frequencies are back in their proper place...the smaller cup with no damping also seems to require less pushing. I turned the gain off on the E12 as well...
I am now looking to make a fresh pair in Mahogany. Also planning on experimenting with alternative methods for screwing the cups to the baffles so I can get in and out more frequently with less damage.
Can the screws be used from the stock cups by chance? Although you'd need taps and counter sinking bits
fleasbaby, those look amazing.
I'm still trying to mod with the original plastic shells.

Do a cup/baffle so the Rear Cup Component is removable and you don't have to take off the pads and baffle screws each time you want to tweak the tuning.
I saw that Stratocaster did that with his Fostex mods...it might be worth exploring...at least for a pair I can return to for tweaking before making a final version with a fully closed single piece cup....
Yes, Stratocaster, symphonic, and several others have done Rear Open mods. It cuts down on tuning time and saves pads / baffle screw receivers.
You would have to wire them to be balanced, you can't just use the stock 3.5mm input. Any headphone can be made balanced.
