I used silverstone acoustic foam instead of paxmate. I believe they have the same specs so either would work.

For the person that asked about the Yulong D100 driving the T50RP I am trying it now. It does sound good but the V200 does it better. IMO it is all about what you are used to. Something is missing compared to the V200 but the V200 is a $1000 or so amp while the D100 is a $500 dac/amp. I'd say it does the job mostly but to improve on the amp you have to spend a good chunk of change unless you can DIY and then it depends since some amp parts are not too bad while others are expensive. If I have heard nothing else the D100 and T50RP would not be an issue however I have so I know there is better. Also the tonal balance is quite different with the amp on the D100 being on the brighter side while the V200 is on the warmer side. The pairing of the V200 is a better match to my ears.

I just got home so hopefully I have enough time to compare stock vs O2 pads but these O2 pads are just so comfortable..

OK I just got around to putting the stock cups on and I'm going to say no. Bass is gone and the treble seems a bit recessed and the midrange is moved up. While I do hear some bass extension is very bad and then the quantity is very little. These do not work and there will have to be a lot of changes for mrspeakers if he is planning to tune them for the stock pads.

The stock pads just need padding under the rear side to angle the drivers, this is what the O2 pads do by default, you will never achieve the same result with any pads that are not angled, period.

Perhaps with the RastaPants2 mod that may be true but it's not true in the case of the two mods I have done. The O2 pads were almost the worst, beating only the stock pads.

I actually didn't think the difference was that dramatic and I only tried the stock pads because someone asked me to. I'm pretty surprised at just how much a difference it makes. If the stock pads are any indication then yes pads make a huge difference. I was going to try them for around 30-60 minutes but after a song or two that was all I could handle.

The difference between pads is huge. Larger than many might think.

It depends on the mod I guess. I find that paying $100 for these O2 mods (although expensive and quite ridiculous on a headphone that costs less than the pads) was worth it for me. It may not be for everyone but that's fine. Either way at around $200 including pads and mods I have found a headphone that beats every other headphone I've heard except maybe the Magnums but I don't have them to compare and they will be going through some intense modifications and won't get them back for 2 months at least but will wait until then.

dogears, your pics are awesome as is your name for your T50RP :)

That's really what it comes down to. For comfort, the O2 pads reign supreme IMHO. They are uber-comfy. However, for the sound...not so much, at least with the mods I have tried. I am sure they work well with the RP2's though.

Time will tell. I'll be in Cali tomorrow. I wish I had time to respond to certain people in this thread (and other threads) but I am vacation now.

Rawster, THANK You for testing the stock pads. I find them utterly amazing now.. But I cannot wait for the Shure 840's to get here. : ( If only I weren't on vacation! I wanna get home to test my 840's and mod the other set (hardcore this time).

Glad to help Hennyo but for the RP2 you may want to wait until mrspeakers configures it for the different pads although I do recall someone mentioning the 840 pads not being too bad on the RP2 but the stock pads are a no go. It may be better if they are angled but the angel the O2 has is not something that is possible on the stock since O2 is much thicker.

I just want next Thursday to come as it should be pretty exciting for me. I'll have a Fiio E10 (which is irrelevant for the T50RP) but the K501 bass heavy version will be coming in and I expect to hear some amazing mids on them and I loved the K601 but found the DT880 bested it. The midrange of these are great and I heart that is the case for orthos in general so will be able to see just how good it is :)
