People here are looking at this the wrong way. Say you listen to 2 hours of music per day on average. 2 x 365= 730. Assuming that you own these and they fit for 3-4 years (I'm not really sure how long they last on average, nor am I aware of jh audio doing refits due to the high rate of driver failure, but I don't really know), that's anywhere from 2,190 to 2,920 hours of use. It's even more if you like to listen to music at work or while studying. So you're paying 50-38 cents per hour having them for only 3-4 years respectively. Take it for what it's worth but women are much more expensive.

yeah, but if you can be satisfied with a cheaper pair of headphones, then that 38 cents per hour (i would never rent a pair of headphones for that price) is greatly reduced. as good as they may be, paying 1000$ is not cheap any way you look at it.

for those who want to pay that money and are happy to do so, it is great, but for those who just fall on the hype and feel they need it, 1000$ is probably far too rich for their blood.

This just occurred to me, and this may be a post for a whole new topic. In terms of amping, will there be a new series of High end amps ($1000+) specifically made for IEM's ?

I don't know if there really is a market for it. Most iem's don't scale enough to warrant the price tag.
