Has anyone got a usb dac to work with iphone in mophie/similar case? Like with a micro usb otg or similar cable? Just curious if that would work and maybe even bypass the mA issue...

Well I can confirm an iphone 5s with mophie helium case and micro USB otg cable does NOT work with the dragonfly 1.2 dac. It doesn't even power on. I tried it with the case power switched off and on. No dice.
 
EDIT: Belkin power case doesn't work either... I'm abandoning this idea...

i have iPad air 128 Gb jailbreak on firmware 7.06, I got the camera connection cable, and I want to use my fiio x3 as a dac. 
 
I don't know it does not work any idea what happened,
 
I swear on my regular iPad mini i sold it used to work what happened and is there a solution

I use Sony PHA 2 with ipad, by the lightning dock and the cable apple usb for charger.
Fine.
Music to /192 khz and dsd.
The appli onkyo HF player lets play dsd music, by PCM or DoP (ad-on). Also Flac etc...
Synchs with itunes library very fast.
eQ with multiple arrangements...
I like this solution...

I have this same rig and it works great.  The Mini splitter pictured above is small but I wish it were even smaller and flatter for ease of putting it in my pocket – i.e., I wish it were just the size of a USB extender like these:

Unfortunately the above three USB extenders did NOT work with the Dragonfly.

I assume that you changed the usb mode on the Fiio ? Easy to overlook that step.

Hi, not sure I understand the comment.  There is no fiio in my rig.  just the dragonfly and connectors.

Not that I know of. It's just a plug and play dac/amp. No screen/settings. I don't even know of it is software upgradeable.

This is interesting...  Does it actually sound better than through the headphones jack on 5s or iPod Touch 5th gen?

dragonfly 1.2 with iphone 5s is more powerful and tonally accurate than stock hp out imo

I love this setup, BUT once the battery goes down to 50%, it won't power the DF any more.
