Introducing Shanling M8T - New Flagship Portable Android Player with Tubes

Is it easily replaceable or you have to send it to the manufacturer?

You have to send it in as I understand, but the battery life is similarly to your smartphone. If you fully charge it everyday you can expect it to loose some after a few years, but with casually use and not charging it to 100% it should last many more years than 2-3.

Does the M8t has charge limit settings ?

Don’t know? Somebody might know here?
I've just been through the settings on my M8T and at this time you cant set a battery charge limit, not sure if it's something that can be added in a firmware update @Shanling

None of their other players have this feature so I expect the answer to be no, but let’s see.

No need to send the player to us, we are also selling the battery separately (apart from a few countries that do not allow battery shipments).
If you have some local phone / Hi-Fi repair shop that you would trsut with it, the battery replacement on M8T is easier than on modern smartphone.

No such setting, sorry.

We asked software team for this multiple times over the years, so far was never added to our devices.

I had mentioned the following before in this post as a possible solution, but I guess Shanling's software team isn't interested in it.

For battery capping, our software team never supports this on any of our models.

There is an open source project (at github.com) and software (apk) (at f-droid.org) to manage battery charging levels, unfortunately root is required for them to work. Maybe it would be possible for the Shanling software team to review the open source software and implement and fine tune the code for Shanling devices running Android OS? Anyway, it's not a demand from me, just a thought that the open source code might be useful to implement the feature.

I've been using a hardware / software solution to limit charging to 90% of full charge.

For those wanting to control the charging level to increase battery life, there is a hardware device which is connected in between your charger and a DAP or an Android phone or iPhone called the Chargie. It works in tandem with an Android or iOS app, but can also function without using the app to control the charging level.

Picture is of USB Type C and Type A versions of the charging control hardware. Picture of the Chargie app which allows you to set the charge level. I would rather have a charging limit in the M8T itself, but this solution works very well.

had at least 20 smartphones over the yrs. not a single one had a usefull battery capacity left after 3 yrs and yes i charge my batterys as they should be. USer replaceable batterys have been dismissed because of fcn apple! at least some of the better manufacturers are returning to what we already had

Okay, was just on my third year with my Pixel. Still last a whole day, and my last Huawei had no issues after 4.5 years.
They did maybe drop 20-40% in total usage time, but still not unusable. Think its very dependable on the battery/manufacturer.

But this thread is not about phone batteries 😜
