In Ears for $300

I know very little about headphones. Want to spend $300 or under on some in-ears. Comfort, sound quality (obv) are priority. A decent warranty would be nice as well.
Comfort: Multiple sizes are a plus
Sound Quality: I likah da bass; but good sound overall is important, not just bass.
Make suggestions. GO!

For bass IE80 or FX700 ;). With IE80 you can also upgrade cable and improve sound even more. I consider my IE80s better than the FX700s TBH.

What part of TRUE music duplication lacks bass?

Only that part which rests with the end users misuse of the product.

Idealy, a flat (true) audio output device is desired. Then properly equalized to tailor the sound to the end users taste.

To buy any headphone that alters true sound is to buy a deficient product.

Generally a flat headphone/IEM will be on the  brighter side and may sound thin IMO. It is a preferential thing but (IMO) combining a bright source with a bright headphone doesn't sound natural in general and is fatiguing. Although having bass overpower the other frequencies isn't good either. Bass is there though to lead the other instruments, not to be drowned out or overpowered by treble. For that very reason synergy is key and combing a bright/neutral source with a darker headphone or vice versa is key.

I have the ER-4S (identical to ER-4P w/adapter) and they're a great value.  The reproduction is very flat though as others have mentioned, there's no deviation in sound from the original recording in these IEMS.  If you like incredible detail and great vocals, I think they're perfect.  But if bass is really that important to you I guess I would look elsewhere.

Is it really flat though.  It isn't a neutral IEM.  Look up the neutral post on the forums.

This forum is full of people who don't know the meaning of flat/neutral. (period)
 
Flat/Neutral refer to the specs, the waveform produced by the headphones output. (How closely it matches the source output)
 
Like I said, and continue to see/believe, these things are not known by the majority of members here.
 
It's all good though. I like to control my sound through additional controls. Not be dictated (locked in) by the headphone manufacturers.
 
But what do I know? I like Apple Ear Buds.
