I have a desktop set up, but I used the iDSD micro BL, when I walk around the house or in the office. I used to use my phone with Tidal, but every time I got a call I had to quickly disconnect the phone from the iDSD or take the call holding the phone and iDSD stacked.

I am not sure if someone else has also come with this idea but this is what occurred to me:

I have a chromecast audio, I think this is such an amazing and inexpensive little gadget to connect to the micro idsd and stream music from tidal, Spotify, or your own music files from a NAS. The only problem is that the chomecast has to be connected to the wall to get power. It is such a tiny thing, but it is not portable. So this is what I did, just for fun. I went to Amazon, looked for the thinnest battery pack that could find, bought a very short 3.5 to 3.5 digital Toslink cable, a very short USB to micro usb cable and some velcro. This is a $30 - $35 project if you already have a chromecast audio. If not, it is only $35 for the chromecast or less if you find it on sale.

I admit, it is a little bulky, but honestly, I love this setting. A wireless streaming iDSD/Chromecast combo. Here are some pictures of the result of my fun project:

Note: Chromecast audio plays 96KHz/24bit, so it is perfect for TIDAL's MQA (Master Quality Authenticated) music.

Comparing the sound between my iPhone 7 and chromecast, the Chromecast sounds cleaner and clearer. The iPhone has warmer sound. I prefer the Chromecast.

I don’t think the iDSD reclocks the signal.

Hahaha! When I did this, I really thought about the poly/mojo combo. That was the inspiration actually. That combo looks better, no cables, no velcro :) but $1330? No way. And I much prefer the sound of the iDSD than the mojo. I used to own the mojo.

I might post it there just to see the reaction

lol good luck. The mojo thread in general feels like zealots attacking those saying they prefer something else vs the mojo with the creator leading the charge.

That is incorrect. The input circuitry of the micro iDSD is exactly the same as the stand-alone iPurifier S/PDIF.

This means S/PDIF signals are decoded, then sent into a memory buffer, de-jittered and then clocked out with the GMT clock derived from the AMR DP-777.
