All you need is the Tidal app, at least with a Mac.
What about a windows laptop?

I recommend you to consider micro iDAC2 rather than micro iDSD BL if you do not desire portable use (battery operated). Micro iDAC2 is simply designed to deliver the converted analogue signal to the line-out. Micro iDAC2 does have 3.5mm headphone out but it is not powerful enough to drive some headphones.

Yes it is absolutely safe. Are you feeding the USB power from a PC or a linear power supply? Can I charge the BL via USB while using SPDIF input for the sound? I am using a Schiit Eitr (SPDIF output) and I want to make sure it's safe to use the BL's SPDIF and USB at the same time before trying.
Thanks.
Maybe they could come out with a refresh which allows for it to charge from the 2nd USB port while playing from the main USB port. That would be sweet for battery paranoid people like meYes you can.
My main gripe is not being able to power or charge my phone or the iDSD when using the micro-USB output of my phone.
PC USB port.Yes it is absolutely safe. Are you feeding the USB power from a PC or a linear power supply?
You are absolutely right. A PC usb port would have that result however you can safely charge from a linear power supply and input from the coax port at the same time.I tried plugging the SPDIF and USB in at the same time, but I can only get audio via USB. Selecting the Eitr (SPDIF) in my Windows playback devices menu gets no audio. Unplugging the USB and I get audio from SPDIF again. I think having them both plugged in at the same time turns the SPDIF socket on the BL to output mode.
I see, that makes sense. Any recommendations for a linear power supply for this purpose that won't break the bank? You are absolutely right. A PC usb port would have that result however you can safely charge from a linear power supply and input from the coax port at the same time.
You could just use a powered usb hub to do the job without looking at a stand alone linear power supply. Much cheaper and does the job for something like the BL.I see, that makes sense. Any recommendations for a linear power supply for this purpose that won't break the bank?
You can plug this into your pc port and then plug the idsd into it, only power and the pc wont see it: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B...fl_title_61?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=A3HIHADV23VGU1I tried plugging the SPDIF and USB in at the same time, but I can only get audio via USB.
