I Basso HDP R 10 is IBasso DX 100 Japan Version impressions thread

Must be the earlier firmware when the DX100 first came out. The HDP-R10 sounds amzing as it is without any firmware upgrade. Unlike the DX100 which has gone through so many firmware upgrades, HDP-R10 has only 2 -> 8.01 to 8.02 if I'm not mistaken.

The HDP-R10 was released later than the DX100 and the DX100 has improved it's SQ dramatically since it was first released 14-15 months ago. Usually most DAPs don't really alter much in SQ with subsequent firmware upgrades but the DX100 seems to be proving otherwise.

I'd think a comparison of both iteration of essentially the same product with the current firmware is probably a fairer bet. VisceriousZERO should be able to drop in on a comment about both as he has both products (his HDP-R10 is a new replacement even when the previous one died - don't know how long the OpAmps have been burnt-in though).

This evening my Ibasso HDPR 10 just arrived

Overall I am very happy with the sound quality from ibasso HDPR 10 , out the box sound quality is different to my previous ibasso dx 100

Source : Ibasso HDPR 10 Japan version
Iem : : Earsonic sm 64 v1
Um miracle with Tralucent gold silver cable
Fit ear MH. 335 DW
Tralucent 1+2 with old silver cable

High : smoother than my previous dx 100
Mid : sweeter and more analog sound compare my previous dx 100
Bass : very clean , very deep impact bass and detail
Soundstage : wide and very good depth as well
Separation : very detail better than my previous dx 100
Background : more black background and low noise floor almost dead silent
No pop sound when I shutoff the HDPR 10

This is my first impression and my IMO

Please help me I can not upload image with my iPad ,

Thank you

Yes I've found someone that also feels that the HDP-R10 sounds different (better than) DX100

I'm inclined to believe a different OpAmp. The HDP-R10 uses OPA627 as advertised. The DX100 doesn't state what OpAmp but if I were a maker and if I put something like OPA627s into my device, I wouldn't necessarily be "quiet" about it.

I concur with your findings as I own one as well. I cannot compare to the dx 100
Witch I never owned. As far as sound it is a player that rivals any good desk top
Setup I own. IMHO it sounds as good as my mytek 192 at my office. Useing IEMS
now headphones it does very well too like my hd 800 but the mytek clearly is better.
I'm glad someone here has done at least a partial review. I would but as you read my writing
Expressing clearly what I hear is not my strong point at all.
Anyway I'm glade you like it

Thank you Sean for your explanation

To me the DX100 does not need to sound better as I love the sound. It needs to be smaller...thus me getting the Tera and soon the AK100...but still intrigued by this. Besides it should not be at its best out of the box...the dx100 took 150 hours or more to sound its best.

Hi Michael
These two has similar sound signature , HDPR 10 as Anakchan mentioned use op amp 627
Can make HDPR 10 SQ smoother than my DX 100.
You are right in matter of size or dimension is giant compare to your Altman Tera and my AK 100.
The reason I bought HDPR 10 about SQ different and has optical out :D

Thank you ALRAINBOW

Yes it is , I like my HDPR 10 beside my ak100 mod stage 1

These two dap as transport are the best , they have their strong point

HDPR 10 is strong if I use coaxial cable compare to optical cable

AK 109 is strong if I use optical cable

Just a question

It was extremely loud even at them west volume on the jh3a. I have not tryed it any other way

My coax output is normal not to loud

please, specify the firmware version with which it arrived.
I would be interested in ordering HDPR 10, but would like to have the opportunity to install the ES-File Explorer, as it proved to be very convenient in dx100

My firmware is V8.0.2 is the latest firmware , no other firmware until now .
