Haha, you obviously have been down to Sound Science any time recently!

If you ventured to say “Our ears are the most valuable bit of audio kit we will ever own or use. If it sounds good to you there is no other defining factor” in there you would last about 30 seconds before the circling vultures came down for a meal. If you stop posting here we will know you have ignored my advice and have been eaten.
Thankfully we are in a safe DBT free area and so I can tend to agree with you that if it sounds good then it is good. But then that is why we are here together because we like the sound of the Chord DACs.

For Rob or anyone who knows with a headphone of 250 ohms impedance and (nominal SPL 102 dB (1 mW / 500 Hz)) and (Max. SPL 125 dB (200 mW / 500 Hz)) would TT2 be set to low or high gain. I'm exploring how a particular beyer headphone might work with TT2.

I’ve not seen a Chord headphone amp with gain switches, so the answer would be, as usual, that you set the volume to the level desired.

With you being a reviewer I'm sure you will find out the best settings and answer ppl's questions, high gain for harder to drive headphones or low gain for i.e.m's so we don't get any hiss? Or is it the other way around?

Unless I'm mistaken, there are not any gain settings (separate from the volume control) for the headphone output, as they are unnecessary.

You thinking the low gain mode doesn’t apply to the headphone out?
TT2 has a low gain setting; this ensures that the OP noise voltage is only 1.6uV - that's the lowest residual noise of any DAC I have ever designed (against the high gain max OP voltage it's -135dB). I have to account for the AP's 1uV of residual noise to do this measurement!
Amp mode on TT means power amp (to efficient speakers) or to replace your pre-amp, so working as a digital pre-amp. You would just set it in low gain mode.
