How many hours straight can you wear a "comfortable" set of headphones?

For watching TV in bed I use cheap around ear (KSC75 style) and fall asleep often with them on and even those I have broken about three pairs now, good thing they only cost $2.00 at The Dollar Store.

That is what I use my HD580's for but they must be well made because they haven't broken yet. I usually take them off before I fall asleep but as you might expect, sometimes I forget.

I typically wear my ATH-M50's for up to 10 hours a day with several 30 minute breaks within a typical work day.
Although when I have deadlines and my work goes through the roof I end up wearing them for 14+ hours a day and sometimes I don't even play music...
My ear lobes were initially tender when my headphones were new, but a week of wearing made the pads softer and haven't had any comfort issues since.

I'm afraid why anyone would wear a headphone for 6 hours but only listen for 1 is beyond my ken.

Maybe you pause the music for a bit but can't be bothered/ want to keep them on?

Until my face gets oily again. (which happens every 4 hours or so) then I have to get up and wash my face before I reunite with my headphones.

My LCD-3's I can wear for as much as my HD700. Though it does feel more heavy, sadly :'(

Oh right, I literally fell asleep because of the music I was listening, so laid back, so cool... People you're missing out!

And laid back is not the same as slow - doubt my HD700 or HD800 can come close to the speed of these!

Oh, who would possibly doubt bass speed of LCD3?

If it weren't for face oilyness I could wear it until I die of starvation.

I've never had to wear a headphone straight all day since I'm constantly getting up, but I'd say my Denon AH-D2000s qualify for all day on and off use (10+ hours).

That's what I like about open backed cans, you can eat and drink with them on.
