How many hours straight can you wear a "comfortable" set of headphones?

Kinda funny, but I've been finding I sleep a lot better when I fall asleep with my T1s on. I fire up a podcast when I'm ready to get settled in, and after it's done and it turns off, I end up with super comfy phones on my ears that allow me to sleep more soundly.

You could break your headphones like that!

True...if I wasn't such a 100% back sleeper, I'd never allow it to happen...but typically I wake up in the very same spot I went to sleep in. Agree it's not the best practice, though...but it's damn comfy! haha

Not headphone but a ciem, Spiral Ear SE5way reference, a silicone earpiece, I can wear them over 6 hours without a problem. I can probably wear them longer but I couldn't have a time to test it.

No pain, no headache, no discomfort, pure pleasure.

beyerdynamic and sennheiser are the most confortable. My T90 and hd 650 stay in my head for over 7 hours.

On the other side IEMs are really unconfortable for me, can t stay longer than 30-60 min with them, I guess is because of the shape of my ear.

You can tell when your headphones are comfy enough if you don't have time to wear them until they get uncomfortable, like me and my DT990 Pros.

Its a phenomenon that occurs in dynamic drivers where they require playing time to reach their best sound quality.

What I dont like:

1.) Pressure on the head
2.) Ears touching inside of earcup
3.) Not enough space for ears

I only listed headphones that should be of interest here. The Sennheiser PC Gaming stuff i listed only because there are models almost identical in terms of comfort as headphones: 518, 555, 585. I saved myself the work to list all the gaming headsets i have access to (basically almost every model out there).

Category A: Comfortable
  1. Bose QC 15
  2. Sennheiser PC350 (Europe or with Aircon :))
  3. Sennheiser PC360
  4. Philips Fidelio X1 (Europe or with Aircon :))
  5. Fostex TR50P with mad dog leather head strap and shure pads

Category B: Comfortable for some time (1-2h)
  1. D2k with MMX300 headband (headband)
  2. Beyer MMX300, DT 770, DT 880 Pro, Custom Pro One (touches ears)
  3. Sony XB300 (sweaty)
  4. Creative Aurvana Live (touches ears)
  5. ATH M50 (touches ears)
  6. Panasonic RP-HTF600 (touches ears)

Category C: Not comfortable
  1. Fisher Audio 003 (clamp)
  2. Somic MH463, Somic XB300 copy (forgot model name) (touches ears)
  3. Vmodda M100 (too small ear area, touches ears)
  4. Soundmagic HP100 (too small ear area, touches ears)

At the moment i am stuck on the Fidelio X1 - waiting also for the alpha pads for the fostex.

Looking for an upgrade instead of a sidestep. Consider he-400 but am afraid they are not comfortable. On the plus side i think i could mod something (access to 3d printer ).

I can wear either my Mad Dogs (Shure pads) or HD800 for 8-10 hours at a time if need be. The Brainwavz B2 I also regularly wore for entire work days, after awhile they just kind of disappear.

What I don't like is the ANGLE-PADS, gives me the frontal pressure.

There is little to no evidence that it actually exists as something physically changing about the headphone.

Yeah I personally don't believe in it but the argument rages across Head Fi
