Used to wear SR225s biking around Montreal.  Cars is crazy there, you have to hear them sneaking up on you.  Otherwise nothing bigger than SE530s 

  They keep noise out of the music better than almost anything, and sound better than most closed headphones besides.

Then when it starts raining, you break your neck trying to run back into the hosue before its too late

I've wore dt770's and grados in public. I would wear something as big as floats if they sounded good.

luckily for me i live in a very dry climate so it rarely rains.

happily, I see more people with custom or universal IEMs on planes these days, and fewer with neckbrace-challenging big rigs. but there are still two people talking walks in my neighborhood with full-size cans - I can only hope they carry potent amps in their jackets somewhere
