I don't believe in using speaker amps for headphones...as the blown drivers on this thread speak to. Get a powerful headphone amplifier and you'll love these headphones! The HSA-1b, HPA4, GS-X mini, GS-X Mk2 and now the AMP-23R are all brilliant with these hard to drive headphones.
The EF1000 may be the greatest amp ever for the Sus?!?!
Hard to say when only one member that owns this amp posts here.
The $18K cost may be an issue but the WA33 Elite is right there as well all in at $17K + the tubes you would not 'need' but would want in that amp.
I see the hegel h95 is not expensive compared to other totl amp, would you say that the best you heard the sus was with the h95, could you describe any difference compared to a totl headphone amp
so I have a violectric 590 and ifi pro dsd as dac using them connected by a tellerium xlr cable
would any of you suggest I use the ifi pro dsd as a preamp, and turn the volume all the way up on my violectric ( vio is set at +18 db gain ) , so that I control the volume from my ifi pro dsd

I wouldn’t turn up The amp 100% I would keep it around 85 and see how it sounds but I wouldn’t just plan on opening it up 100% and you’ll have to experiment to see which sounds better to you.

it sounds fuller using the ifi pro dsd as a preamp, i might go to +6db gain now on my vio, as when i am on +18db i barely am using 15% of the volume on ifi pro dsd
i am getting a very full dynamic sound, and i find it handling the highs better that way being more smooth

Love when I get to hear my favorite tracks all over again with a bit of different dressing on top. Makes for what can be the same old meal, fresh - new and exciting!!
I am a fan of the iCan Pro for the same sounds signature you describe.
I have the new Enleum AMP-23R and it has gobs of power and sounds great...but the HPA4 does hold its own...pretty close to my definition of full potential (whatever that means ).

You sure got that right, and it sounds like a great reason to keep upgrading gear ad infinitum! But it is awesome when a song starts and you don't recognize it, and it's one you've heard loads of times but it sounds so... different, and usually better with more cool stuff to hear.
The S200 supposedly does have some stuff in common with the new S201, and is supposedly a good buy at the used prices it comes up at. I haven't personally heard it, but it would likely be worth trying with the Susvara, if you have a similarly capable pre-amp.
