HIFIMAN Releases New Flagship DAP "R2R2000"
Mar 31, 2019 at 12:02 AM Post #586 of 1,984
I only have two question that I love to get answered:
1)What does R2R2000 does to the PCM files? I know PCM1704 traditional upsampled everything by factor of 8, hence the restriction of 24/96(result in 24/786), and the FPGA inside the R2R2K does handle such bitrates (but non-functional now), does R2R2K does any internal upsampling?

2)Which leaves the question, what is the optimal file size for R2R2K?

I've read that the magic of upsampling is using to upsample the 44.1 khz file with a slow-roll off filter, what kind of filtering does R2R2K custom filter use?

Ever since seen all those TH900 in your signature, I took my beloved TH900 out of box and I remember why I kept and love this headphone. I want to get mine modded to pair with R2R2000. Single ended pairing is so GOOOOD.
Wow sounds like fun.

Few live pics with both the orange and red version of the clover case. It would be nice if Dignis could issue their own cases for R2R2K :)

Hi All,

Another few pictures of another case this time from Van Nuys. The case is made for the SR15 hence the peculiar stitching on the front but as the dimensions of both DAP are pretty identical, it works quite well.

Potential issue is that you cannot charge when using it but I am using it on the go so not really a concern to me. Two other caveats, it does not come with the shoulder strap and you need to have another case on the device such as clover, otherwise the case will be too loose.

If Hifiman finds a way to unleash the 24/768 capability of their FPGA filter and if they can do it right, there is no other DAP out there which can do this.
