After several years of service, my r2r000 black's screen is broken. It shows nothing now. Part of screen was dying until completely black. Can I buy and replace the screen myself or send it back to hifiman ? :(

I don't think hifiman will be of help. When touchscreen on my R2R2000 red became insane, hifiman told that the DAP is discontinued and therefore they cannot help with it. They will probably offer to send it back to them for a discount on some of their headphones.
So you will have to DIY or ask some electronics repair wizard.
In my case, npaudio from UK fixed the digitiser on my unit, so you can ask him

I second that, they fixed my R2R2000 Red digitiser too, I was really upset after Hifiman said they couldn't help. You must be pretty distraught with it been the Black!
Worth asking if they have any or can source any screens.

Took a few reboots, but the R2R2K is as good as it ever was. Remains to be the most analogue DAP ever produced...

Spoke too soon, looks likes my R2R2K is soon to pass. Going to fully charge the battery, then flash the firmware. It's been a long time companion took me through some difficult times.

Sorry for your (potential) loss...Good luck

I'm babying mine the last two years - take it for a walk once a month only. Fingers crossed.

Morning…..I’ve got an imaculate black one with original display box etc. all blemish free in a case. Stopped using it as the elephant in the room is the battery. Was thinking of trying to sell it. D’you think it has any value?

Not much as they are not noted for their reliability. If only Hifiman could get it's finger out out of it's arse and work with a reliable partner as they do undoubtably understand music... Pricewise parts only which is such a same given how well the DAP can perform...:frowning2:

I think a linear output cannot be output directly from the DAC, so this is the correct linear output.

As for the mod, I tried to change the cheap resistor and capacitor in the I/U of the DAC, tried different combinations, it sounded best with the Japanese Shinkoh resistor, the sound is more wider, more natural, high frequencies are perfect, not as sharp as in the stock, also a good resistor Takman karbon (need try to burn more), compared to them, the stock version is a bit dirty and boring, sounds wrong in some moments, but mod is no finished, I tried it on my DD iem, but will also soon try this diff on my new Raptgo planar hybrid.
Hello, please tell me what modification you ended up with DAC R2R2000?
