An obvious bias towards people liking their products? Uh, yeah... There was no put-down of the competition, so I don't see what was 'inappropriate'.

By giving a thumbs up the sponsor in question is supporting /agreeing with the contents of the post, contents which included the following comments: "[Fang] seems to me way less greedy than all these big companies out there who produce overrated, overpriced iems/phones... shure is one company that comes to mind with 535/846 (to name just 2 iems)" and "my guess is that the 600 will leave behind all iems up to the 400$ mark"

My thumbs up to that post was in support of the notion that companies make products in a free marketplace and price them how they feel is appropriate based on a number of factors. And consumers are entitled to choose them or someone else's or none at all.

In addition, an earlier post in this discussion falsely claimed that RE-600 and RE-400 are the same and that HiFiMAN is ripping people off. Anyone that knows Fang, and many here in Head-Fi do, know that he is a generous supporter of the community and values his customers.

That is what I was endorsing and I stand by it.

Another side note: Have you noticed how prominently and more frequently member reviews are featured on the home page as of late? That amounts to free content for this website unless the company throws you a bone by letting you keep the gear. Suddenly it makes a lot of sense to only review big-ticket items that you can sell for a good amount so as to actually put some cash in your pocket for supplying content. While y'all are sniping away at each other, somebody is laughing all the way to the bank.

A thumbs-down from me for pettiness.

So I asked acoustic an engineer and he thinks the RE600 and RE400 share the same diaphragm but different coil configuration, based on the graphs.

So the educated conjecture of a guy you know counts for more than this?

For the record, the only thing that RE-600 and RE-400 share is the housing. The driver diaphragm, coil and cable are different.

Pure propaganda, obviously.

Classic quote.  Although is it ok to say the "R" word?

Listening to Nick Drake's "When the Day is Done" on the RE-400 at work with my little ELE-DAC.  Warmth of the RE-400 is sweet for vocals, male or female.  RE-400 has enough bass and detail for ambient dub.  Solid little IEM.
