May I know what EQ software and settings you use to enable this beastmode? I have my HE-400 (jergpad modded) plugged into an Aune T1 with an Amperex 7308 and I'm still finding the bass impact lacking for my favorite EDM tracks. Would simply upping the lower frequencies on the iTunes equalizer do the job or must I do anything fancier?

For broad-band EQing there is no need to get complicated parametric equalizers. For EDM tracks, you can bump up 40-200 Hz (just adjust the bars so that it's a gentle hump centered around 100 Hz).

LOL SWEET PIC! So it sounds like the e17 is merely adequate, but might need the e12 if I want proper sound...

I wouldn't say the E17 doesn't provide "proper sound", I think the e17 and he 400's sound quite good together. The HE-400 isn't hard to drive, just a bit harder then expected after what I had read about them working straight out of an mp3 player.

I think the E12 has a better amp then the E17, but it lacks the DAC (if that is something you want/need).

The Schiit Magni/Modi combo is always great with mid fi gear.

Thanks for the advice jerg! I bumped up the 64Hz and 125Hz bars by about +3dB on the iTunes equalizer and that did the trick!

Not sure about itunes but I use foobar 31 band EQ plugin....

Here is a screenshot of an EQ which will increase the bass and lower the treble spike, I would not add any bass above about 100hz. That is 8db bass increase which is good for electronic music but maybe not for other genres.

Beastmode = Earthquake mode.

First time poster, long time lurker here.

I don't know if it is common knowledge, but I just wanted to give a heads-up to anyone interested

Hi,

I know it's been 8 months since your post. What other brands of earpads have you found that also fits the HE-400? Thanks

Nice! That worked even better! Now I need to figure out a way to do this on iTunes as well...

Seeing as iTunes EQ is pretty barebones, I'd imagine the only way to get a better EQ working with it is to use a universal one.

Sub bass adhesion mod completed, indeed there is even more bass and extends deeper, the bass on these headphones now with both mods is awesome... An easier way of doing the adhesion mod BTW is just cutting strips of sticky tape and sticking them between the holes... Then peeling off the backing tape... Do not have to dig holes through the tape with a pen that way....

Not sure if I will try the vent mod because I don't want to lose any bass or make them sound brighter..... Also I am not sure I can actually remove the pads now lol... What does the vent mod do for the sound exactly?
