Agree. My initial impressions are premature, I know, and I'll revert with details and a benchmark.

Looking forward to the unboxing video ... you'll get it there soon, I hope. :)

I'm trying as hard as I can. Unfortunately, my 2007 iMac with 3GB of added ram doesn't run Lion very well. iMovie freezes every few minutes and seems to quit out at the last minute.

Alright, well I uploaded it, but can't seem to view it on my phone. Can someone visit my other channel, YouTube.com/ontheedgeaustin and tell me if it uploaded? An in HiDef?

A couple of pictures. The HE-300 matches the Burson HA-160D quite nice:

Ah, silver on silver.  Always a perfect match!

I think this whole talk about bass on the HE-300 was blown out of proportion!

It all started when I quoted someone saying that the "HE-300 beats the Pro 900 in every aspect." Then someone mentioned bass and it all snowballed from there!

From reviews and impressions, the HE-300 is NOT supposed to be a bassy headphone. I think the guy I quoted who compared it to the Pro 900s simply meant that the HE-300 was the better headphone overall.

It is not an amazingly bassy headphone. That being said, it does have bass, with a good amount of impact rumble, and extension, if not the speediest.

The bright dynamic headphone market is completely saturated. I think it was a good move by Hifiman.

It would be nice if more companies see it like that in the future.

Yes it certainly was, i'm surprised there aren't more warm-neutral headphones.  I mean look at Audeze.  They didn't really have to beat the HD800 or HE6 technically (not that they don't) because if you find the whole slew of bright TOTL's (HD800, T1, ED10, GS1000/PS1000, HE6, D7000, etc) too bright, the LCD-2 is the only option.  They have literally 0 competition except from the few people who can tolerate a variety of tonalities.  Sennheiser has made a killing because they make the only warm-ish high end dynamic at that price range.

I agree but to my ears my LCD 2 rev 1's are still very aggressive even with less treble presence as the other flagships, which is very important to me. What I'm having a hard time understanding is how would the HE 300 be laid back per say if it has mids almost comparable to the HE 500? To my ears a good midrange takes away a headphone from being called laid back, like how the LCD 2 does it with a superb midrange, and of course the bass. Is it being termed laid back because of rolled off highs? What music are you guys finding that it excels in and what music to you think it has trouble with?
