Hifiman Ananda

Since they're more of a warmer neutral tone, I don't even really notice that peak. Unlike the Beyer T1.2's 8k peak. I think that the vocals being pushed back a little also helps. But also depends on recordings. Or I'm probably just used to higher cans since I also have T1.1 and SR325e.

Yeah, got it like the other week.

That makes you a crucial resource. Oh please wise Oracle - yield the secrets of the magik object to the masses.... We will appreciate it.

Sweet! Are you happy with your purchase? Have you heard the HEK? And if so, how does it compare?
Never heard the HEK but I had just bought the HEX V2 like a little over a month ago and bought the Ananda anyways when I saw it become available at Hifiman's site. Ananda is better than the HEX V2. Same tone and signature. Ananda seems a bit faster with a harder punchier bass. HEX puts the vocals to the outside so it feels like there's a whole in the middle but Ananda fixes that and puts the vocal in the center so the stage is more coherent and with better seperations. I haven't experience much other headphones so can't compare to others. I noticed you're first up on that loaner program from TTJV.

Thanks for those insights. Yes, I’ve always been a fan of the Hifiman sound. The HEK V2 is still the best headphone I’ve ever heard. I wasn’t a huge fan of the HEX V2. I thought it didn’t have enough treble and a little too much mid bass for my preferences. The Ananda seems to have fixed the treble, because it looks more similar to the HEK. I am hoping it sounds more like the HEK than the HEX while being very easy to drive.

What? No upper mid as usual for Hifiman? I thought no upper mids was usual for Audeze.
I find most planars have somewhat of a dip in the upper mid area

Uhh... that is a gross generalization with no science behind it. Some Audeze headphones have that yeah... HiFiMan absolutely does not (not a single one of their planars except maybe the HE-400, and maybe the HE-400S for all I know since I never used it or listened to it), the Fostex T20RP/T40RP/T50RP absolutely do not. All vocals are forward on most HiFiMan headphones. The Abyss AB-1266 might since I remember some mid range recession on it.

But let's be clear, this has nothing to do with the technology. It's just how manufacturers tune the headphone. Planars don't have inherent upper mid dips or anything like that, in fact the most linear frequency response from bass to mids belongs to planars.

Actually, there seems to be a peak in the upper mids
