Hiby R6 Pro - serious upgrade to popular DAP
Jul 23, 2019 at 5:51 AM Post #2,221 of 4,002
Does anyone know if there is a way to reduce the ~500ms lag between the time the audio leaves my PC and hits my headphones using the DAC feature of my R6 Pro. The lag makes video games impossible. Music and video games is fine, but it'd be nice to use this as a portable DAC that has no massive latency issues.
Are you using the windows 10 sound driver or?

Hi guys. I am concerned of the customer service from Hiby now. I returned my R6pro because of the hiss&click and EMI issues and received a replacement. EMI is lower now, but hiss&click still present independent of the volume. Only high impedance (e.g. 300 Ohm) headphones cover it. I start thinking that it's only me, who hear this. Therefore I asked Hiby to check the returned player and inform: is it a defect or a feature?
And...ignorance in every way.
I read here that many people don't have any issue, but it may mean that eigther my 2nd device is also defective or that it is something wrong with the sensivity of my ears and/or my expectations from 800USD DAP.

If you have a windows 10 computer try uninstalling the driver and go for driverless use of it? That's what I mean by the "Windows 10 driver".
I guess I didn't think to try that. I guess I don't need ASIO since WASAPI is available. Thank you.

I just received a new Hiby r6 Pro after using a fiio x5, m3 (both given to friends) M3k still have and my X7. After only a couple hours of use I am blown away! I have been wanting to get one, but at $799 I could not justify it. When I saw the sale for $100 off, I couldn't pass it up and couldn't be happier. I have read almost all of the 149 pages of this thread and wanted to say thanks for all of the information. Have to sell the X7 to help pay for the HIBY.

I have owned a Hiby R6pro for a couple of months now and I have experienced interference once only and that's with my phone right next to it all the time, I don't stream or use the WiFi this is playing music from micro sd only .. There is hiss but again I think this is genuinely down to mastering and recordings, I have some albums that I have more than one digital copy and some will hiss more than others, it seems you throw this decent mastered recordings and the R6pro is virtually hiss free to my ears
Previous daps I have owned include x7ii and Dx200 with amp8 and I prefer the Hiby R6pro over them both.

What in particular do you like about the new HiBy, may I ask?

Hi Joe,

Thank you! Compared to the X7, I find it to be less analytical (more musical), huge sound stage, separation of instruments (excellent), instruments are in their proper frequencies and space, etc. The sound is full and ballsy. Just overall a great sounding DAP. I mostly listen to my DAP's through the line-out. I have a pair of Senheiser HD600's, Etymotic ER4P-S, and some Galaxy Buds for wireless. I listened for a bit last night through my wired sets and again the detail just blew me away. I am not an mp3 guy, but for the heck of it I played a tune from Mingo Fishtrap and it sounded better than CD quality. I hope all of this makes sense. I am not a reviewer by any means. Glad to be back on the forums!

Well I tried that driver and it still has the same amount of lag. I've checked in device manager to make sure it's using the Microsoft-provided driver instead of Thesyscon one from HiBy. This lag does not occur using the same headphones with a different dac/amp.

Just purchased a 2.5 mm balanced cable to fit into the Cayin adapter for my HD600's. I have used balanced connections in recording situations but not with headphones. What kind of improvement can I expect?

Another question... I have had issues with this on my X7 regarding track listing. Some of my albums are sorted alphabetically. How do I resolve this problem. It's driving me nuts!

From the cable upgrade, more power (from engaging both headphone amps in mirrored +- output), and better stereo separation (although the latter may be hard to notice since the separation is so good to start with).

Are those album tracks sorted correctly on any other music player? Do you mean you're having the same problem on the R6pro?

Thanks for the response. I will have to check the card on one of my other players. I am not sure if it is a Hiby thing or my files are not tagged correctly. Do you know of a good tagging program? I have used MusicBrainz Picard, but it constantly crashes.
