Thank you. The reduces the likelihood of the SD card or slot being the issue. It does seem to be focussed on isyncr and MTP transfer. I'm trying Dapper now (Hiby suggested it) but that won't do ratings. At this point I just need ot confirm I can get these files across without being mangled. Wow I miss my iPod right now.

Joe,

I'm still trying to resolve the downloading issue out with TIDAL on their Masters tracks and they have come back with the following answer:

Our Developers have researched further and the Hiby R6 is not certified by MQA yet. They have spoken directly to MQA to verify this.

So, in this case, if the device does not properly support MQA, then the output from the TIDAL app will be 96 or 88.2 kHz to AudioTrack.

This means that the device downsamples the audio to 48 kHz

Any help would be appreciated as before TIDAL's recent update MQA was supported correctly on the Hiby R6, going forward this must be a problem on all Hiby R6's or R6 Pro's?

In this case it means there was one or two builds of TIDAL where they enabled software decoding of MQA, and now they've pulled the feature, requiring instead that players decode MQA on their end (to what end, is up to you to decide... a lot of --REDACTED-- is going through my mind right now). Better hang on to that previous build of TIDAL for as long as possible I guess.

I've noticed that my R6 gets extremely hot will charging - normal or an issue with my unit?
Are you playing the player while charging, if so how?

Joe, yes, I have played the R6 while charging and I gets extremely hot. Have charged but not played and, although it does get hot, not as extreme as while playing.
Well the player gets hot while charging, and it gets hot while playing. It gets twice as hot if you're doing both  Worst case would be if you're using the balanced output while doing so...

If you'd like to continue doing so for convenience and would like for the player not to get so hot (and potentially lose charge capacity in the long run) I can recommend that you switch to a charging port that offers a slower max charge speed. Say one that is NOT Quick Charge compatible, or even one that only offers 1A instead of 2.1A / 2.5A charge current. That should be able to keep your R6 charging and topped up while you are using it without creating what feels like a thermal detonator counting down... :joy:

Thanks, Joe. Ha - yes, was also using balanced output! Seems like the heat experienced is completely normal then which is what I really wanted to know.

And thanks for your swift replies.

Any owners know the system defaults for "Audio Settings?" (Oreo OS w/current update)
I was messing around with these and should've made notes before changing:
*Low-pass filter (minimum, fast or slow?)
*Gain (low or high)
*Tonality (reference, I think)
*DSD gain
*Max volume
Thanks!
Charlie
