Hello,
 
Im looking for a new pair of headphones that will be driven by my E7 + E9 amp. I don't have any specific budget (>500$ would be nice though) but i want the headphones to work well together with my amp. They will only be used at home with my amp so closed or open cans does not matter much.
 
I listen to many different kinds of music but my main priority is Rock, Hiphop and pop. I barely ever listen to classical music or Jazz.
 
I won't be able to listen to the headphones before i buy them so i could really need some last minute advice. The headphones that I've looked at so far are: HD650, DT880 (250 or 600 ohm?) and Denon AH-D2000 (i normally prefer open headphones though).

I have a set of Denon AH-D5000s and am really enjoying them. These are ran off my E7 + E9 amp. I came from listening to Grado SR125i's and much prefer them. They do have a lot of bass which some people don't like, but as I do, they are a perfect for me. I would definitely put them in you shopping list.

Thanks for the feedback! Denon is one of the few brands that i am able to listen to! I'll go do that the first thing in the morning. The problem is that they cost about twice the amount of HD650 which feels quite alot.

Which would be the best option between DT990 ( 350£ ), HD600 ( 220£ ), HD650 ( 250£ ) and Pro 900 ( 390£ )? The prices are based on what they cost here in Sweden! I've read a few reviews about them and they all seem to be amazing!

Those prices are ridiculous, I suggest you buy from outside of Sweden.
Also the thunderpants are great and can be found for under $500.

Yeah prices here are high. We do however need to pay for customs, shipping and VAT if we order from the US. (about 30-35% added on the price)  =(

I suggest you look on the for sale forums, to avoid customs you can either buy headphones from the EU
or buy from someone in the US willing to mark them at a low value when shipping.

I am running my HD650 of the E7/E9 combo. Its a a good low budget amp for those phones although I am sure they would shine even more with a better amp. I only had the HD595 before to compare directly. I looked at some of the above suggestions but settled for the HD650 as I listen to a lot of genres.The HD650s seem to be able to get on with most stuff. The most amazing feature for me personally is the absolute zero listening fatigue. Once you adjust the clamping force to your needs and the pads are adapted to your head shape you can wear the phone for pretty much the whole day - no problem.

My setup is very similar to what you are looking at.  Running E7/E9 combo with D5000's, HD650's, and SR840's.
 
If I had to pick one, I like the HD650's as an all around headphone.  The D5000's are superior for bass heavy music (daft punk, portishead...etc).  But in general, I like the vocals and overall sound coming our of the HD650's better.
 
The D5000's do win in aesthetic and comfort though.  I can wear the D5000's for hours longer than the HD650's.

Lovely! Thanks for the input. I get a good deal on the HD650 here in Sweden so i will head to town during the day and buy them! Appreciate all the help that i have recieved! Thanks

I used a pair of Denon D2K's with my FiiO E7/E9 combo had they worked great together.

I have the HD650 with E7/E9 Combo. It puts a smile to my tired face each night I put it on my head (only after work 

 ). I also have the HD595. It's kept in the office and use it for office use. I have to warn you though, I had to put a teeny bit EQ on the higher frequencies for the HD650 to work with me. After I did this tweak...my God. I am a happy man. But I never would have noticed the big difference in SQ if I didn't try it. EQ or no EQ, the HD650's are great!
 
Pick a nice and comfortably looking headphone -> put it on your head -> put some music on -> if it makes you smile -> buy it. -> end chase.

How do the D2000's compare to the D5000's and HD650's i'm really tempted to get the D2000's i hear great things about them.

HD650 or DT880. The DT880 has powerful bass like the HD650, but it is much more open and detailed (though I wouldn't necessarily call the HD650 "veiled"). There is surprisingly very little difference between the DT880-250 and the DT880-600, although the 600 ohm version is reported to have smaller drivers. Both are equally difficult to drive, but the E9 can drive them without any problems.
