and those sony new canceling with on the ear cup, i tried them from a man i know and, as expected with most c¡noise canceling, the sound is thin.

Saw a girl with V-Moda Crossfades today. Granted, they're not the best value, but it's refreshing to see something other than the standard no-name/Beats/Skullcandy.

In a world without Beats and Skullcandy, I would not really like the Crossfades.  I think they're tacky and overdone and target iPhone users et al in the exact same way that some of the more notorious brands do.
 
That said, I think I'd have the same reaction that you did.  And I do think some people here have had nice things to say about Crossfades.

Well the skullcandy lowriders looka but like the HD25's and the guy was walking past me and I though WOW someone wereing HD24's then I looked and the headband had been broken in half and taped, the earpads were frayed, and the wire was wraped around it for some reason.

Saw some one wearing some Grado SR125i's at the shopping center the other day. I was quite excited as it was the first time outside of university (audio course, even then they are generally just SRH840/DT770 PRO that we get cheap for student discount) that I had seen some one with some decent headphones.

UCSD, this morning: portapro's, ad700's, some audio technicas I couldn't make out, hd201, hd202, hd428, hd448, hd555.
Some ibuds, but not a single beats. Seems people in the morning have better taste.
