I'm preferring the pleather pads, too.
I wouldn't care about if your Senns are 3, 4 or 5 years old.
Their quality is very long lasting.
You purchased them used, I guess.

The HD 25-1 and the HD 25-1 II are exactly the same headphones. They just differ from delivery content.
No need to be concerned.

Wow I didn't know mine show HD25-II so their delivery is quite messy as well the way they present their product.

I don't know if you're right in this case. thanush purchased an used one, I guess. So his model may be from earlier days before Sennheiser changed the packaging content and renamed it into "HD 25-1 II".
At shops where I come around in Germany they're selling the HD 25-1 II only. As mentioned from a user before it would be interesting what the box says and/or whats on the invoice.

Hi all ,

Basically my requirement is a versatile headphones which works great with movies and games too.As I am not a lan gamer i don't require a microphone and travel a lot I have narrowed my choices to Sennheiser Adidas HD 25  as they are closed ones which would provide good noise insulation while travelling too but heard that they are not too good with movies and games.Anyone can throw a light on it? Also how are the ,Sennheiser HD 380 pro($130 less),sennheiser's pc 350($50 less price range) or even Sennheiser PXC 450 ($130 more in my country) compared to the hd 25(I know they are meant for different purpose but anyone can compare their versatility?)

My Amazon.com order is being shipped late... the estimated delivery date is December 14th, but the package just arrived in Richmond, BC on December 16th. Looks like I'll probably get them on Monday or Tuesday

It seems like Amazon.com orders always come a week later the estimated delivery date. When I ordered Meelectronics M9P, the estimated delivery date was February 10, but I got it on 17th. Oh well, at least I got free shipping

If you want bass boost, go for it.  For some real improvement in sound, get a P-51 Mustang or something, I'm told P-51 + HD25 or Grados is a badass combo.

It doesn't change much with burn-in.  If you are not liking it now, burn-in will not help.  Did you want more bass and clearer treble?

Received mine today. Pretty underwhelmed by the bass. Treble also seems kinda flimsy. Will see if it improves with burn-in.

Yeah... Sennheisers have always had more of a laid back sound. I'm not receiving my HD25's until tomorrow, but I doubt their sound signature will be much different than the norm. Perhaps Sennheiser just sin't the brand for you.

Do give it some time for burn in.
The original cable sucks.. try a HD650 cable.. You can get it off eBay for about $20. Overall presentation (bass, mids and treble)  is much better with a minor change.
What is your source/amp?  I'm absolutely loving mine with the FiiO E10.  Probably the best entry combo in to HeadFi as far as I'm concerned.
An alternative headset is the v-moda M-80.  I have both the M-80 and HD-25. Though the M-80 delivers more bass, the HD25 is tighter and cleaner.  Overall, I prefer the HD-25 over the M80 though I do enjoy both.
