Updated today with a small disclaimer in PART 1 talking about how big the differences in sound actually are. The disclaimer is in red and in a bold font.
 
These differences can be quite overstated on these boards.

Still, the differences between the DT770 Pro 80 ohm (which are not the same as the M version, earpads alone are different) and DT770 Premium are huge. I hope you don't deny that. There's enough confusion already,
I agree on the 250 to 600 ohm part.
 
BTW: it would be nice if you could do a comparison with Manufaktur leather earpads on the DT770.

That disclaimer excludes the 80Ohm DT770. It's mainly for the 250Ohm and 600Ohm variations.
 
If I had the leather pads I would do it. I will look into getting some.

Thanks Zombie_X! So informative, I wish this had been around before I purchased my DT990 PRO 250Ω, not that I don't love them - i do.
 
I also have an older pair of discontinued DT770 PRO 600Ω headphones. Don't know how old, maybe 10-15 years. Someone gave them to me after I had had my 990s for a few months. I just can't get past their lack of bass compared to the 990s. Has anyone heard these older phones compared to the new design of the 770s? Has the bass changed much? I'd like to stay with beyer and I'd like to have a closed pair, but don't want to loss that much base. Maybe the newer ones are better than the old model?

HI, I have not heard the older DT770 so I don't know if the sound has changed.
 
Would it be possible to borrow them or purchase them off you? I would be interested to add them to the list.

I'll be curious about this one.    I prefer the 880/250's over the K701's by a large amount.  The Beyer's seem much more balanced to me.  The K701's have a tilt such that to me they are too bright and don't have enough low end.

Hey Zombie_X, how about to try and compare the NoXter modded closed back DT880 to the other Beyer models? The mod is reversable, and worth the effort.

No need to loan a pair, just adding some felt inside the cups and changing ear pads.on your DT880.
They beat all custom DT770 and DT880 models in my opinion and others.

Maybe I missed it in one of the posts, but where does the DT770 PRO 80Ω model fit in? I don't see it listed, just the DT770 M 80Ω and DT770 PRO 250Ω.

There are two versions of the 80Ohm model, one is the DT770M and the other is the DT770Pro. In all honesty I can say that before I thought there was only one 80Ohm model so I only listed 80Ohm. I don't know which version I heard but it had a ton of bass.

Must have been the DT770 Pro 80, as I owned them, and they had a ridiculous amount of bass to the point of it being distracting.
 
Can you compare the DT770 32ohm vs the DT880 32ohm? I ask this because I mainly use my headphones for gaming, and the Mixamp (fully powering the game audio, and 0% chat) drove the DT880/32 very well, and they sounded awesome for gaming. I'd like to know if the DT770/32 has a premium quality sound the way the DT880/32 did.
 
I'm very anxious to find out. I'd get 600ohm versions, but I just don't know. Oddly enough, me and quite a few others agree that the Mixamp powers the notorious K701 and K702 well when it's completely leaning towards the game audio, and not having voice chat mixed in. So are the DT770/600 harder to drive than the K701/K702?
 
Again, I'm NOT getting an extra amp, as this would be for gaming purposes, and as I stated the Mixamp drives the K701 I own very well for Dolby Headphone (surround sound) GAMING. If the DT770/600 is easier to drive than the K701, I'd consider it.

I don't have the 32Ohm models on hand so I can not compare. I went from memory on these models. As for the 600Ohm models I believe they are easier to drive than the K701/K702.

Hmm, I wonder if it was the DT770M for drummers. Who knows. The M version seems to have leather ear cushions and no bass reflex hole, while the Pro version has the hole and velour ear cushions.

If it had lots of bass it was the DT770Pro80. DT770M has no bass compared to the DT770Pro.
