Wow! So I just recieved my GS2000e today! After listening for the last 30min I must say this is the first Grado, that I can say with confidence, has the largest soundstage to date. More impressions to come....

Sorry, I need a background of what other Grado's you've closely listened to in the past (and ideally owned) to kinda put that statement into perspective. Thanks!

I own the RS1i. I've found the RS1i to have an intimate soundstage with a mid-bass hump. I've demoed the following extensively: PS1000 (close to natural soundstage) and the GS1000i (not wide but holographic soundstage. Probably due to a gentle mid-bass rise, that is less than the RS1i but still apparent). I've found the PS1000 to have a gentle "U" sound to it with a speedy/detailed sub-bass. The GS1000i has some nice and open mids and a lower treble emphasis. The Bass on the GS1000i is present but has steep roll off below 70-50hz in my opinion.

And how would you describe the gs2000e's tonal balance?

Several comparisons of the GS2000e to the GS1000(I or e). Any comparisons to the GH1, which shares its maple wood, particularly with the G Cush on the GH1?

Got the GS-2000e today and confirm findings wich i got at the Munich show,it's the best Grado ever. The airiest Grado!, soundstage not behind HD-800.Very detailed and transparent but not harsh rather smooth.Bass is a tad tighter what i remembered much tighter than original GS-1000 similar to PS-1000 .L-R and front imaging is excellent and instruments placed well .It has unmatched naturalness and HD-800/s sound against almost artificial. You can also say that these breathe musicality. Not tested it yet with symmetrical cable i will try it later with Violectric .Probably needs more current tha GS-1K but not sure but find that these get better with more volume opposite to previous models.Mids are warm and very transparent and natural.Highs are not prominent just detailed and natural.Overall very balanced phone ,excellent

How is the intensity of the sub bass (I.e., below 70Hz)? Is it enough that the pad around your ear transmits palpable vibrations that you feel sound your ear, at normal listening volumes? That is the ONLY area that I find my Grado GS1000i to be lacking. Thanks!

Cannot evaluate the subbass yet before i get  it hooked with a good amp. These have unbelievable amount of transparency combined with smoothness a rare feature wich i find in some Staxes only.Transparency and 3d imaging is above HD- 800.
Against GS-1000i these are better the looks is similar but the sound is 1or 2 class above.

Tested it with youtube 60Hz  test my ears are shaking it was a rather tight subbass tone

Thank you so much!  One of my 10 acoustic tests, which happens to use a 32 Hz tone, is the ONLY one that my GS1000i do poorly (on the other hand, the GS1000e is not the best Grado on several of them!).  As a result, I go to my HiFiMAN HE1000s for subbass ecstasy.  However, a recent comparison between them and my GS1000i showed that overall, aside from subbass, the GS1000i excelled on more acoustic tests than the HE1000.

The other concern I have is that the GS1000e, unlike the GS1000i, has a "tubbiness" to its bass.  If the GS2000e uses the same 50 mm drivers as the GS1000e (and NOT the GS1000i, which uses 44 mm drivers), then I fear that it may have the same tubbiness.  However, my PS1000e, which uses that same driver, does not have that tubbiness.

Hence, if the GS2000e keeps the strengths of the GS1000i (and sounds like, with its  great transparency and soundstage, that it does), it might become The Perfect (for me) Headphone with the addition of palpable subbass.

GS1000i bests the GS1000e in all areas except "bass finger pluck," a measure of treble detail.

GS1000i wins all acoustic categories over the HiFiMAN HE1000 except for subbass (and HE-6 wins on treble detail).

Seems like a great three-way comparison would be the GS1000i (my favorite so far), the GS2000e (as a likely improvement), and the GH1 with G cush (as it uses the maple wood that is part of the GS2000e.)  So...  GS1000i?  check!  GH1?  check!   GS2000e?  hmm... must be here somewhere among my 25 Grados... oh rats... I haven't bought one (yet!).
