It’s more the lack of serial number that is the most concerning.
So, I’m still a little on the fence on the chrome SR325is cans I bought.
What makes you so "concerned" about the serial# anyway? The serial# is inscribed around the edge of the driver housing. Are you 100% sure you looked well enough? And maybe Grado doesn't provide a serial# for replacement drivers being they're not a finished product? You've received feedback on why the (e) drivers might have been installed (two times) and now it's the serial# that is "concerning" you. If you're "on the fence" with your headphones and feel something isn't right--then why not return them instead of not enjoying them?

There are two things that people say about Grados.

1. They all sound the same.
2. They sound the same regardless of what kind of DAC/amp you use.
From my personal experience, #1 is immediately debunked by comparing RS1x and RS2x. Also my beautiful Hemp seems to be an outlier within the Grado family.

Grado Hemp / Schiit Vali 3 is a stunningly, stupefyingly great combination!

For a h/p/a expenditure in the $200-$250 area (amp + upgrade tube), it's hard to imagine anything better 🤔🤷🏻‍♂️.

Hmm didn't know they relased a new Vali... maybe I'll get a stack from schiit Vali 3 + modi + loki mini, any thouths?
I have not listened via Modi, Loki mini. I imagine that the trio would be an excellent sonic - besides visual - match.

I'm not surprised.
I used to own the original Lyr and it was an excellent combo with my PS1000. I also tried my new PS1000 with my original Magni/Modi and they sounded great.
I still own my original Lyr and found it a very nice match with most all of my Grados along with other brand phones in the collection.

Maybe I should put it on the Classifieds and give a Grado fan a great synergy at small dollars.

Congrats again on tracking down that early PS1000 that you had been looking for.

I commented last week that I think the RS2x is much better, but the next day I spent 5+ hours enjoying my GS1000 OG... Still a great headphone🎧

• .... the rewards (blessings) of owning more than one headphone 🙏.
• An overall Head-Fi (and Grado Fan Club!) question: how often is a listening session preceded by the thought: "What do I feel like listening with?"
• Those two words determine what is the best headphone at that time! 😉

Thanks Jonathan.

And not to forget the very important what music am I to listen to?

In days of old with LPs being my main source I would sometimes put on a record to play while I decided which record I really wanted to hear.

At least back then I only had one headphone set up, a Stax SR-Xmk3 and one set of speakers, Quad ESL57 (a reveal of where my Head Fi name came from). ESL = Electrostatic Loudspeaker.

I always liked
electrostatics.

Enjoy that Music!
