After extended listening. Decided to go back lol. It seems with comfort comes great sacrifice. Lmao. But it was fun nonetheless. Got the idea from Jonathan C when he tried it on his hemps.

Question for GS3000x owners. Seriously considering upgrading from my RS1x. I am not looking for a TOTL headphone (I have an HD800s that fills that purpose), I just want to see if I can improve on the Grado signature sound that I have loved so much over the past 30 years. After reading numerous impressions and reviews, I am unclear if the GS3000x is the best current iteration of the "house" Grado sound or if it is something altogether different? I am not considering vintage Grado models at this time for various reasons. Any opinions for those that have owned or have had significant head time with the GS3000x would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
Sorry for a question not an answer.. How do HD800s work for rock/metal? Do you prefer them to rs1x? I wonder how their famous wide soundstage will work for metal.

I still prefer Grados for Rock and Metal. I don't know of another headphone that does guitars quite like Grado.

I can only speak for myself. Listening, and the resulting enjoyment is very personal and subjective. That being said, I've been listening to Grado's for a very long time. For my taste, the GS3000x is a substantial improvement over the RS1X, and RS1e while also keeping the Grado house sound. Without a doubt the best Grado I've ever listened to. Please keep in mind that I never listened to the GS1000, or PS2000e, or the PS500, for whom many people sing their praises. I'll leave it to others to weigh in on their experiences.

I did something crazy today. A Grado dealer in my country celebrates 20 years in existence and offered 20% off everything and I bought a SR325X on impulse. Grado is a brand I know next to nothing about, except for the non changeable cables. It was a jump into the unknown, so wish me luck :)

The RS-1 "wood button" (original) is happily paired with L-pads! Just that 'nth' degree of air & spaciousness without losing bass impact.

I have G pads on my RS2x's but they go with my 225x's. Rather than buy another pair of G pads would the L pads work?
Give L-pads a go .... I am in the midst of (r)evaluating the F-pad vs G-pad vs L-pad associations with my Grados .... So far, I am favouring the F-pad on RS-1x, G-pad on GS3000x / PS2000e, L-pad on Limited Editions / PS500e .... 🤷🏻‍♂️

I agree with Leo in that the GS3000x is the current best sounding model in my opinion besides being their current TOTL.

When I got my GS3000x I ended up selling my GS3000e fairly quickly.

In my opinion the two Grados I consider a step up would be the former TOTL
PS2000e and the Joseph Grado Signature HP1000 series. Both of these are hard to find and more expensive.

BTW: Heads up. There should be a new ad coming up soon, perhaps this weekend with a truly beautiful Signature HP1.

What are the best high end / mid range tube amps for grados? Something like a great all-rounder.
Vacuum Tube: Donald North Audio Sonett 2, Icon Audio HP8 Signature, Linear Tube Audio MZ3, Woo WA3, Woo WA6.
Hybrid (Vacuum Tube / Solid State): Monoprice Cavalli Liquid Platinum, Schiit Lyr 3, Schiit Lyr 3+, SparkoS Labs Gemini.
