I started on the 80 ten years ago, I had them for ten years. I also used a friend's 80i a lot. Back then I had bad quality music and tried to EQ rich sound that didn't happen - now "hi res" on YouTube sounds amazing comparably and it's not even hi res. I don't even want to EQ it so I'm smacking myself for not realizing their full potential back then. I got the 80x and ms1 a week ago and I'm lost on how to use it portably offline (probably going to get tidal). Someone recommended velvet sheepskin pads. I need to figure out which phone I'll use, a 16gb 5S that I love or an android with a 64gb SD card. I don't know which cheap DAC (under $100) to get until I pick a phone but the suggestions were a c31993 Abigail or a $40 DSD. I bought a type C apple dongle yesterday but didn't realize it's not for micro usb. I just want to walk my dog with 16-32 bit classic rock, offline. I was going to get the 325x but I opted for two cheaper pairs (girlfriend) and a wire splitter and a 1080 projector because I'm in an apartment and can't have speakers. If someone wants to talk me into spending about $450 CAD on the 325x I'm all ears because my girlfriend likes the 80x a lot more than the ms1. The ms1 doesn't have the same magic as the 80x, it's not even close but they were only $40.

325x is your best choice for Rock music. Or if you can spend $420 get Hemp instead.

The original options were a used hemp for $370, RS2E for $500 or a new 325X for $420 CAD. I really wanted to hear an X driver and I wanted a projector for movies (budget was $500) so I compromised and now I'm not so sure I got the right thing for myself but the 80x is incredible, I just want it to punch harder so I got an apple dongle that I've yet to test. I can still buy the 325x but it'd leave me without a projector and broke.

325x is made for rock music. John Fogerty approves it.

That said I think all Grado models are great with classic rock. .... when used with a Woodstock era tube amp.

What stopped me from buying the hemps is a YouTuber (DMS I think) labeled his review "they're good... but also bad?" and it was too this-way-and-that to be taken seriously. Meanwhile they get praise from basically everybody.

When choosing between 5 pairs I made 4 tests that included a coin flip and did them over 3 times and got flat results across the board. Flat! Statistically speaking that is an anomaly I've never seen. I flipped a coin and got tails 9 times in a row, three times in a row. About a week before I got the 80x I had a dream where a deceased friend handed me a black and white striped kitten and I said "I'm gonna call you Oreo!" and she said to me "you'll like this one the most, he's vibrant." Two days after buying the 80x I'm looking at grados limited editions, I didn't know they made those and I see the black and white striped Oreo limited editions and I went "oooohhhh!" So I'm pretty sure that's what I'm supposed to be looking for. There were only 50 pairs made.

Whatever you do, don't be like me. I went from Beyer DT880 to HD650, HD800, ZMF Atticus, Eikon, Verite Open, Audeze LCD2, 3, 4, X, HiFiMan Arya, He1000se and Susvara. Now I am with Grado and probably will finish off with Grado.

And don't get me started on the amps I've been through.

My wallet is not so epic.

I look at your headphone list and I think you're at a very good place. Now need more tube amps. Meanwhile at Abbey Road studio. I'm actually using 325x now and enjoying the heck out of it with the top most left tube amp. Yggdrasil is feeding the top 3 amps, so I can sample any headphone / amps combination for the same song.

Went on an Amazon Music HD 'audio bender' (only drinking water)

Started with the LCD2, Aeon C, 400i, Audioquest Night Owl...all balanced but Led Zeppelin "Whole Lot of Love" came on... threw on the SR325x and...

they destroyed them all...!

Now I can't take them off, my wife texted me wondering if I'm okay...

I don't want to complicate your life, but the SR325x is really THAT great...
