I agree, Mr. Grado has designed it as a package that most often is the best choice sonically. The only Grado in my collection that is sporting non Grado is pads is my my GH2. A friend recommended I try the Beautiful Audio hybrid. I like the difference most of the time and can easily change back. They do spiff up the look in this combo.

Let thy ear be your guide but always you should break in a purchase as stock and and once broken in you can start comparing.
It is a Sweet combo. I am using it this weekend and into the week until my new toys show up.

For my understanding, Grado might not match with EDM music. However which grado might give the best deep bass. I heard 325x provide a lot of bass when compared to 80x, is it true?

If you are a Grado collector, especially models that use the L-pads, you should try out Beautiful Audio in New Zealand. Great pads, super sound and a really nice guy in pretty much a one man operation.
They're a little pricey, but wow! So much better than Shipibo and Dekoni.

When I got my wool BA pads it just clicked. Everything just fell into place. Just got the poly for my mojo 2 and started using roon. Now we are talking! :L3000: Clearity, bass, soundstage, comfort, user interface, less cables.. Makes me smile every time I put them on.

I tried a bit of swapping with the pads I have G, F, L, S and after doing it I have one thing to say...

Grado knows which pads to put on their headphones
Every change I have made, always revert to the original in time.

For this reason, very reluctant to try hard-to-reverse mods ie detachable cable

Rs2e and a good amp work great with EDM

Or the HEMPS. They have the needed weight. But actually Grado has the speed and the punch few other has. So I actually really enjoy EDM with them.

Try ZMF pads. They are the most comfortable.
Thanks. I own ZMF pads for my HD 6XX, and I love the comfort, quality and sound. Probably leaning that way since ZMF is a proven commodity for me.

Now the decision is which ZMF pad. I know the Beyer-adapter combo is popular, but I want the biggest pad possible without major sound changes. I wrote ZMF, and they suggested an Auteur or Universe pad. That may be the ticket.

Wow...then the 325x must sound like a bass cannon to those who are coming from an RS1x. If the RS2x has no bass then the RS1x has negative bass (matter is turned into antimatter and then sucked out of our dimension through the drivers every time a drummer strikes a bass drum :astonished: ).
The RS1x has negative bass to my ears. My etymotic ER4S earphones are flat down to 20 Hz, and they have much more bass than my RS1X's - I consider that negative bass (-:

I also have my drawer of pads :D

But as others said...99% the original one is the winner. In fact for me the only excpetion is the RS1x...it seems to be better with F pads. I have Shipobo, Beutiful Audio (big and small) and every one of them moves the sound away from the essence of what Grado is (the reason to own a Grado). My 2 cent.
