• The L-pad experience is getting more interesting. For me, soaping / rinsing / drying of L-pad does wonders to L-pad sound propagation without any 'funnel' effect. So far, I really like L-pads on 'bassier' Grados: first Hemp, now PS500e.CBC331B5-CAB0-4D31-85BA-FC9D1842C758.jpeg
• The overall tonal balance of PS500e is shifted from slightly bass-heavy, treble-light ('dark') to even. Clarity abounds and the soundstage is airier, crisper, and wider via L-pads. As James Brown would say: "PS500e's got a brand new bag" by moving off F-pads.
• I may have to rethink my 'across the board' use of F-pads for 44mm / 50 mm driver Grados and go headphone-by-headphone: F? or L? 🤷🏻‍♂️. There's always something ...
And Ain’t it Fun!

L-pad is sometimes quite underrated. Alot of people just brush it off from the start due to comfort and prefer s or f pads which are more comfortable and warmer sounding. But L pads , after a period of time , can be comfortable and often clearer sounding.

I'd recommend those who have grados models with L pad by default , stick with it. There's a good reason why grado choose L pad for its particular model.

Are the G pads comfortable? Do they fit like over ear headphones, beucase i was wondering about getting grados (SR80x) and i dont really like on ear headphones they just dont fit my head. I can also find G, L, S pads locally for a cheap price of course they are OG grados.
Comfort is personal preference and also requires a comparator I think

Example, are they as comfortable as the BA or Nyczaj, no, not imo, as they are harder

Are they comfortable enough for long sessions, yes, I have no problem with them

They also take EQ really well, I can play around adding bass etc until I'm happy and can use them for all genres using EQ fiddling

This is the RS2x I'm referring to btw, compare the G to the flats which are awful, muddy bassy flabby mess ok the RS2x and no amount of eq fiddling can fix that

Yet to some the flats on the RS2x are sensational

I use G L or BA hybrids mostly , I'd probably say G for vocals pop and jazz and BA for rock

L just great all rounders but imo they are not as comfortable as the G

Agreed. I prefer the L pad sound greatly over the F pads

Am I the only that find the flat pads comfy on the 325x? I have swapped the headband with one from sr60x, much more flexible, and added a sock as padding

It depends on the headband tightness. If you have it properly adjusted any pads will be fine.
