Neither of them could compare to my lowly sr80i IMO.I searched and couldn't find a fan club for Grados in general. I have only listened to the SR80is and LOVE them. I love how these cans really bring rock to life. I hope to someday try some more high end Grados. I want to see how the Grado "house sound" changes throughout the line up.
Mine have arrived, with their earpads, they transform the listenening experience
Yes they come the closest to a BALANCED but yet still exciting sound experience. The PS500e does that, too, but it lacks some mid presence and excitement that the RS1 button give me.Opinion is unchanged. Still the best of the Reference Series, regardless of vintage:![]()
Yes they do, I dial out a bit of bass on the Mojo2Nyczaj's gimbals are outstanding, the headbands are nice, too (i prefer the Turbulent Labs ones though) but as nicely crafted his earpads are, they alter the sound quite a bit. They are very comfy though.
Many thanks christian yes the magni seems to play well with my 225x do you think the RS2X is a good upgrade and how do you find the RS2X at lower volumes I have tinnitus so with headphones need to be a bit careful
Schiit Magni + is great!
My vote is for the RS2X, classic Grado sound. Or try to find a Grado GH2.
Kind regards, Christiaan
I find Grados, from Hemp to PS2000e, to be excellent at ‘low volume’. Their openness, spaciousness is very evident even then. As with any headphone at low volume, one’s perception of bass may be lower. [This phenomenon led to the development of the Fletcher-Munson loudness equalisation curves.]I am looking to upgrade from my current 225x which I really enjoy …. connected to my Schiit magni + and my lyngdorf 1120 ..looking for a set that will play well at relatively low volumes !.. considering ..
Hemp ..lots of good reviews on here , however some say they need volume to sound good ?
RS2X… Not sure how well they play at low volume ?.
RX1X .. Again good reviews but a mixed bag of sounding a bit lean , and again little as regards to low volume ?
GS1000X … great reviews and a mention of playing well at low volume but towards the very top of my budget ?
any imput from actual owners would be helpful ?…
I only listen at low volume, so you I would say the RS2X sounds really good. I like my GS3000x very much, but not a fan of the bigger G cushions.do you think the RS2X is a good upgrade and how do you find the RS2X at lower volumes I have tinnitus so with headphones need to be a bit careful
I'm looking to do the same thing. I enjoy my SR225x's and want to step up to the RS2x's. I use the Magni 3+ and Vali 2++ with a WE396A tube. I want to be told to do it and you will absolutely love it. So come on.I am looking to upgrade from my current 225x which I really enjoy …. connected to my Schiit magni + and my lyngdorf 1120 ..looking for a set that will play well at relatively low volumes !.. considering ..

Thank you Mr.C, saved me the trouble. I agree that Grados do well at playing and sounding good at “low level” (not an easy feat).I find Grados, from Hemp to PS2000e, to be excellent at ‘low volume’.
