Yep, pretty sure neither of those are real headphones, guys. Lol.

Tron headphones are nice, but I honestly I think they're too big and clunky and toylike to be taken "seriously". If I was going to go to the trouble of designing/building my own headphones, I'd make my own design, not copy some movie or TV show.
And any culture that requires me to buy Beats to be considered "cool" is not a clique I want to be a part of. Then again that attitude is easier for me to say as an adult outside of high school, but I was that way in high school too.

It took me at least quite a few hours to find the HD650s were good for me through online forums, etc., and when you're busy with work this ends up consuming quite a lot of your free time. I personally do this - I spend a lot of my free time researching quality purchases when I'm looking to upgrade something, but I can surely understand that some people don't.
Yeah I think I mentioned earlier I've realized a disturbing number of business types are wearing Beats -- middle aged guys with suits etc. I think in this case at least, they probably bought them thinking they're getting the best, simply because they didn't spend time researching.
Somebody here once said it's easy to research things like this, but it's really not. My coworker, a discerning consumer tech researcher and occasional reviewer, recently purchased the Studio Beats. I politely offered him my Denon AH-D 1100s to compare and explained a few things for him to listen for. He said he noticed these things, appreciated them, but wanted to keep his Beats anyway. He didn't explain why, and I didn't want to push him. I assume it has to do with the style, noise cancelling, comfort, carrying case, and perhaps it's hard to let go of the marketing and popularity. Meh, I was hoping to find a fellow budding headphone enthusiast. Kind of disappointing.
When I find a friend who is willing to spend over $200 on headphones I get excited to hear what kind of sound signature they're looking for, what they learned in their research, what kind of deals they found, etc. It's annoying that there is this default Bose/Beats answer that the majority flocks to instead enjoying the journey of discovering what THEY want to get from their music. Agh! I guess I'm starting to understand the bitterness towards these brands here on head-fi.
It really is time for a video game lounge.
