Yep, pretty sure neither of those are real headphones, guys. Lol.

-sniff-... But... But... I WANT THOSE BRO. Now that the subject of Video Game Headphones have been brought up, I almost feel like trying to make headphones in the model of Neku's.

On a sortof ontopic note. I saw more earlier in the thread people wanting to use fake Beats as a case for their good drivers.

Which I reply to: Please. For the love of god. Dont ever use the Beats headbands and cups for anything. Ever. Be proud that you arent part of the "success of marketing" and dont worry about those arrogant bastards who get on your case for not having "the almighty Beats". Stand tall and be proud of what this forum stands for; the best audio equipment and experience for the value. 95% of the people on this forum would probably agree that Beats arent part of that "best audio equipment and experience for the VALUE" part of it. Cmon guys, you can be more proud than that.

Tron headphones are nice, but I honestly I think they're too big and clunky and toylike to be taken "seriously". Also, the design is too complex to stay in fashion very long if at all (simplistic designs will last longer).

And, if I was going to go to the trouble of building my own headphone casing, I'd make my own design, not copy some movie or TV show.

Lastly, any culture that requires me to buy Beats to be considered "cool" is not a clique I want to be a part of. Then again that attitude is easier for me to say as an adult outside of high school, but I was that way in high school too.

I AM :) I agree, but I guess it's easier in my school. Oddly enough, we have a lot of people in my school who have headphones. We have the people with the iBuds, obviously they have no opinion on headphones and I dont expect them to. We have the people with Beats. Some of them are snobbish people who think their headphones are  "THE FUDGIN BEST EVER" (as usual.), then there are a few other people with Beats who dont go around shouting about them and treat them just as headphones to be used. Theres a guy around my school with MDR-V600s, and he's a pretty cool guy, but knows little about headphones :( We have a guy with XB-500s, he loves em and they're good. I'm the guy who used to have RPS400s, but just now have Giiqs, the E6, and a MDRV6 in the mail. We have a few other Giiq-ers floating around. We have the usual people with 4$ crappy headphones. My friend has SR60s but is far from an audiophile and they're just "headphones he got in the states" to him. And then theres some other models, but I cant remember. Nothing really above 200$ if it isnt Beats though.

Just my observations and luck at the fact my school is very diverse in it's headphone build-up.

And out of all people in the school, I'm "that headphone kid" because I always have my headphones with me and my amp :)

I've probably said it before, but I find it dispiriting that high-school kids aren't the only ones who need to be in on the Beats fad. I work for a university library and see Beats day in and day out--and the majority of our students here are adult learners; people ages 30-50. Granted, a good chunk of the beats I see are on people in their 20's, but there's plenty of older people who parade about with them on too. Wish I had the opportunity to put on my headphones and mingle with the masses, so to speak, but alas, I've got work to do.

Yeah I think I mentioned earlier I've realized a disturbing number of business types are wearing Beats -- middle aged guys with suits etc. I think in this case at least, they probably bought them thinking they're getting the best, simply because they didn't spend time researching.

Somebody here once said it's easy to research things like this, but it's really not. It took me at least quite a few hours to find the HD650s were good for me through online forums, etc., and when you're busy with work this ends up consuming quite a lot of your free time. I personally do this - I spend a lot of my free time researching quality purchases when I'm looking to upgrade something, but I can surely understand that some people don't.

Researching headphones does take forever. I'm surprised most Head-Fiers know about pretty much every headphone brand around. Heh..what would we do without Head-fi? A lot of us would actually probably be complacent with the Beats, Skullcandy, and Bose. Not knowing that anything better exists...until they break.

So yeah. I just can't wait to be called out by a Beats owner someday. They're just so quiet where I live. Strangely, I haven't even seen anyone wear a pair of Beats around their neck(in real life.) It must be a thing that college students do. o.O

PS: Yay for video game headphones. I wonder if there's a thread somewhere that they could fit in. Maybe the Headphone Sightings thread?

Hmm...I didn't really get to do that much when looking from an upgrade from the sony-zx-700, I just had to look around a bit and saw a better rig that has better balance than my zx700 to stay at home. Granted, obviously it is the a900x which I will get tomorrow, but nevertheless I feel kind of bad for not looking more into senhenniser, AKG, Shures, etc. Would you consider that a bad thing most of the times? I personally believe it's not that bad to search a little, but I think it may be similar in the leagues of not researching.

WE MUST DO RESEARCH! (Never could let that go out of my head)

My coworker, a discerning consumer tech researcher and occasional reviewer, recently purchased the Studio Beats. I politely offered him my Denon AH-D 1100s to compare and explained a few things for him to listen for. He said he noticed these things, appreciated them, but wanted to keep his Beats anyway. He didn't explain why, and I didn't want to push him. I assume it has to do with the style, noise cancelling, comfort, carrying case, and perhaps it's hard to let go of the marketing and popularity. Meh, I was hoping to find a fellow budding headphone enthusiast. Kind of disappointing.

When I find a friend who is willing to spend over $200 on headphones I get excited to hear what kind of sound signature they're looking for, what they learned in their research, what kind of deals they found, etc. It's annoying that there is this default Bose/Beats answer that the majority flocks to instead enjoying the journey of discovering what THEY want to get from their music. Agh! I guess I'm starting to understand the bitterness towards these brands here on head-fi.

Bolded for truth. Anytime I buy a new pair of headphones, or mention looking at a pair I want, a dude a work with always says, "You should get Bose. My dad has a pair and they're like the best headphone ever." I usually tell him they're not my style, or something of the sort and he just lets it go. But after the millionth time I have had to hear him say that, I just responded with, "I belong to a headphone enthusiast website, and Bose aren't what you think they are." His response? "Wow, I should tell my dad he probably got ripped off." That was without me even mentioning what he could get better for a cheaper price. I guess he just assumed(knew?) that I could get better headphones for a cheaper price seeing as I read about headphones all day long.

On the subject of video game cans...Most of the Persona games actually contain real headphones. Most of (if not all) which are Audio Technicas. ESW9s, ES10s, various Clip ons, etc.
