I bought a ne t50rp mk3 and I didn't mod it yet. Contrary to my previuos t50rp, the mk3 is already good out of the box. However did have slight vibration in the sound at high volume with deep bass.
Anyone have a solution for this? Maybe some plasticine here and there?

My latest mods to my T50RPmk3.

 
 
I went all black using flat black acrylic paint on the lettering and orange cable.

I took the black felt filter that covered the vent to the outside of the capsule housings to make them more open for more bass. 

Added MrSpeakers Leather Comfort Strap, this made it MUCH more comfortable with the stock pads!

Speaking of the stock pads... I added some memory foam padding to the front inside of pads to make them "angled" ... this increased the soundstage a tad AND comfort as well!!!

 

 

 

 

 

Here is the foam that I used. For 20 bucks you can get this and use it for a ton of projects!!! I even made some homemade memory foam pads for my Superlux HD-681 Evo's by cutting the stitching on the pads on two parts of them and removing the foam and inserting strip of memory foam cut to the right size and then sealing with fabric glue. I can't speak as to which of those is the 'best', but I do have the Meier Corda JAZZ-ff and it works very well with Mark III's. An extremely clean sound with lots of detail and speed. Complex orchestral and hard hitting complex Electronica music are equally impressive. I have the T40RP and had the T50RP.

Looks really interesting.  Has it made the stock pads any nicer on your head?  Has it changed the sound at all?

Just changed a tad for the better. First off the memory foam on the earpads feel more comfy, and the foam also seems to have sucked up a tad of the coppery treble and the soundstage is also a tad nice too. My main benefit is that I feel the pads feel more comfortable now and I always liked these original pads... for now. Until I experiment some other time with other pads. Because hey! ...This is a Fostex T50rp and it's like having a hot rod that you can always tinker with.

Adjusting the metal rods evenly when putting on headphones... help/rant.

Is there a way to plop the headphones on the head without looking at a mirror to make sure the side adjusting rods are even? lol
I try to gage it with my fingers as I put them on etc... but then I look afterwards look at myself in the mirror with them on only to find they are uneven. LMAO.
Maybe I should add some kind of stop or gage mark to both the left and right side of the adjusting rods to know/make sure they are even when I put on headphone.

I don't think the rods have ever been even on my head. Putting rubber bands around the areas on the rods to make them even would be your best bet.  You can put them on the top/bottom of the rods so they stay in one place.

Mayflower Electronics has been selling modded T50RP MK2 for years (along with other headphone accessories), I just saw today that they will be soon be offering a modded T50RP MK3.

Looks like they are using the Shure 1540 pads and are doing some internal mods similar to the MKII. The MK3s are on pre-order now for about $260, might not be a bad deal considering that the 1540 pads are $40 retail + materials to do the internal mods (Mayflower sells a mod kit for $20) + the time to apply the mod, (etc., etc., etc.,)…
