Hello to all friends in this thread, it's been a while since I was last on Head-fi, but I'm trying to make the best use of my spare time to engage with readers, critics and other reviewers. I thought I would share my review of the SB-7 from StereoPravda, a $2500 USD IEM featuring 7 drivers orientated in the same axis and a housing designed to extend to the second bend within the ear. Reviewing this IEM was an experience to say the least; a mix of unorthodox ergonomics and an exceptionally revealing tuning. As I somehow didn't like the SP1000Cu + Horus + U18t pairing, this Janus looks very interesting..

The more I read thread like that to know what buy to do my entry in the world of IEM, the more I am lost.

It have so many different models that seems to be very good. At the end, all I read is that it's a matter of preference, but how to know when you can't really try those easily?

I changed of job recently, I'll have to travel more, so I thinked a portable set up can be a good thing.

My desktop set up is a HD800 + BHA1 + good vinyl installation.

I want to stay in a sound signature close to the Hd800, I have tried recently the HE1000 and the Utopia. In general, I didn't like that much the warm sound of headphones from Audeze and Hifiman and I still prefer my HD800 over the HE1000.
I found the Utopia interesting, because it have more body to the sound compare to the HD800 without much compromise in the aspects I like; but hey not for more than the double of the price of a HD800.

So if I can find an IEM with a sound signature in between the HD800 and the Utopia, I'll be more than happy!

I listen mosty classical music, detailed electronic music like Autechre, weird experimental music like Coil, Can and Legendary pink dots, jazz, world music, folk, etc

I just bought an ibasso DX200 to begin.

Now I need a good pair of IEM to do a long trip with it.

Help me!

Any help here is just going to hurt your wallet, but I would describe my 64 Audio A18 to be very much like the Utopia, with a little more width and better bass quality. The 18 bass is much like an optimized HD800 using sonarworks. Of course, YMMV as it depends on the full chain and signature preferences. I am listening to the WM1A > Hugo 2 > PWAudio 1960 4-wire and it is blowing my mind and sounds better than the Utopia IMO on any of the much more expensive setups that I have heard it on given the 18's improved width and bass. The a18 sounds great out of my iPhone as well, but not as good as my mentioned preferred setup.
