Final Audio Design Impressions and Discussion Thread

Yes, final explicitly states this on its website, and I presume that is why the B series cables (perhaps other series as well) are difficult to remove. The purpose of removable cables is for replacing a defective cable, not cable swapping with other brands, at least in final’s view.

I’m very happy with the silver OFC cable on my B1.

Well, I just check if using 4.4 balance cable can improved the sounds more with my wm1a but it seems not specially with firmware 3.1 where the sq unbalance improves to be on par with the balance connection.

Yes, I understand changing out cables is often due to the connector itself, so it makes sense trying out a balanced cable. I have no affiliation professionally with final, I’m just an avid fan of its products.

Interesting you found on your Sony the 3.5mm output sounded as good as the 4.4mm. I’ve dabbled with balanced cables with my gear as well, and sometimes I got the same results as you with my now ancient AK240SS. But sometimes not ...

I sold my E4000 after missing depth too much, I tried the E5000 after but has the same problem. Its shame because these earphones are great value for money and if it wasnt for the 2D sound I wouldn't have purchased the IE800S again.
Can you give some more details? Was the bass or the soundstage depth missing?
E5000 started to caught my attention recently and I had the chance to test the IE800S also so I'll be interested in any direct comparison.

Not even close to being In the same league it would be unfair to compare them.

And yet you said that if you'd have had the 3D sound you wouldn't have purchased the IE800S which made me think they can be easily comparable.

Ha, because I really didn't want to spend almost a grand again on iems. The E400 really would have been good enough for my limited use of iems but that lack of depth really bothered me.

E5000 is too power hungry, my average volume is set to 110 out of 120 max. While my N3/IT03 is on average of 80 out of 120.
