You should have upgraded to E5000, that one is really meaty and satisfying... :)

I just grabbed a pair of E5000, and although I haven't heard the 4000, the 5000 definitely have some weight to them. they are not as meaty as the IMR R1 which is my primary set, but they definitely hold their own and offer great detail and soundstage.

Nah, I had the F4100s and ER4XRs, F4100 is less detailed, but has an incredibly lush and sweet midrange. Bass and upper extension is lacking as well. Both are quite good, but fo different purposes, and from a technical level ER4XR is better.
Sorry, maybe I’ve used wrong words to describe my thoughts.

I meant that both earphones share some similiarities, not that they sound exactly the same.

20190322_173957.jpg 20190322_174217.jpg Just had a walk and got some news from Final's representitive at PAF in Hong Kong. A new B series, is coming out.
If my memory is correct, (price not confirmed, just an estimated price)
B2 - 1BA ~250-400USD
B3 - 2BA ~500USD
B1 - 1BA + 1DD ~600USD

Have a quick listen to B1 & B3. both are very comfortable. The 2BA B3 is not hard to drive and sounds great. The 1BA +1DD B1 is hard to drive, cannot comment much because it hasn't burn it yet. Both with relax sounding. As a first thought I think I may like B3 more, but B1's soundstage and presentation maybe better if it's driven properly. I would like to try it with high gain or with balanced cable.

The E8000 would be renamed as A8000, as it's using a different driver from other earphone in E series. There would be an A7000 also. A8000 should be out this year, maybe in the summer.

So the B series is like the MAKE but without the user tuning ?

I've heard that only the appearance are similar.
The B series' sound are fixed and not suppose be tuned by user using filter and stuff like MAKE series.

I was thinking Final Audio can't give more budget sound value than E2000....

And now, there the 30$ E1000 that change everything, Again!

Its very similar to E2000 with slightly bigger soundstage and more fowards vocal and less bass impact.

You can check my review HERE or on headfi.

There was no A8000 displayed for demo. I remembered that price was announced some time ago, so I didn't ask them this time. The official naming for the E8000/A8000 need to be waited for official announcement.

I also asked them about the D6000 and they replied with no schedule at the moment, they guessed maybe coming out at Q3 2019, so we'll have to wait

I had the E4000, loved them and lost them. I bought the E3000 until I could afford the E5000, which I just got today.

Here's the problem: I don't hear anything wrong with any of them! I love the sound of all of them. Can someone help me feel better for spending $300 for IEMs that sound pretty much like the $50 ones? I mean they all sound great, but there must be some difference, right?

Granted 1) I don't have the E4000 anymore to A/B. 2) I've only been listening the the E5000 for a few hours.

The E3000 might be brighter with less subbass and a little less open sounding than the E5000.

Can anyone suggest a track that really shows the differences?

Edit: Never mind. The longer I listen the more I can tell the E5000 is more delicate and detailed than the E3000. They are really beautiful sounding. I usually like a bit of a peak around 8-10k (HE-400i lover here) and was worried these would be too dark. Nope. The E3000 are a bit brighter, but the highs on the E5000 are better, smoother and more accurate.

I just got the AKR02 from the A&K website on closeout at $650 – the bad news is that the cable is having issues and the sound cuts out. Contacted A&K service, they basically say that my only option is to return it for a refund.

However I like the AKR02 a lot when it works. And I’m reluctant to return them and give up such a nice deal. Reading around it seems that a lot of buyers have had cable issues, so no surprise there.

So I’m looking to replace the cable. It seems that there are a few options:
  1. The Q-JAYS replacement cable is supposed to fit and costs $49. Not great looking though.
  2. Does the FAD replacement cable fit the AKR02? It looks great but is pricey at $200+.
  3. Has anyone ever tried fixing a cable? It doesn’t seem like it would be that hard to do, if you are good with a soldering iron.
Any other thoughts or suggestions?

Like you I got a great deal on the last AKR02 for $499 CAD (so like $299 USD lol!) seal box. Received today and to my sadness they sound uneven with most of the sound on the right side but it's not only that, connected to my A&K SR15 I played with the balance and it's not panning from left to right it only change the volume a bit. Very strange. If i move the cable from the 3.5mm connector the sound cutoff. The cable sleeve is terrible.

I have already email the seller for a return. I know they do not have a replacement.

I did eventually get a replacement cable from A&K, even though they originally said they didn't have one. But I'm still using the original bad cable - I just had the plug replaced. Apparently most problems in cables are around the plug area. I think it cost around $35.

It now works great and I have a backup cable as well.
