Everytime I go back to the E5000 after some time off, I'm always pleasantly surprised at how large they sound, as well as the beautiful timbre and texture. Since I got these I have had very little desire to look to upgrade my universal IEM's.
agreed. I adore my e5k too

Hey!
Happy New Gregorian Year of 2023!

Hope you are all having a great time! Just wanted to share my "back to the office" setup! Super happy with the Final B1 and Etymotic triple flange tips! :)

Awesome sound quality & great passive sound isolation is a great combo! :)

Pairing with an old but new-ish to me DAP/DAC, FiiO M11!!!

Finally got my Make4 today. Was supposed to receive it in 2022, but the local post office and I both forgot about it lol

According to Final's tweet, the stock configuration is:
Nozzle front filter: D-6 (medium treble)
Nozzle inside filter: None (max treble)
Nozzle back filter: None (max treble)
Front vent filter: F-6 (close-to-max bass)
Back wheel: fully turned clockwise (max bass)

For now I've only experimented turning the back wheel, which adjusts the amount of air behind the driver. According to Final, this is what I'm supposed to hear:

... which is pretty accurate. At this stock config, the sound is clearly in the same vain as the E-series. I prefer this stock config (blue) over fully turning the back wheel counter-clockwise (red), which is still a nice warm sound, but doesn't quite have the epic-ness of the E-series.

Compared to stock Make4, E500 has less subbass, warmer midrange and similar treble. Compared to E4000, stock Make4 has similar bass, but a brighter midrange and treble. Here's a quick size comparison:

Since most of the customizations turn the bass and/or treble down, making the sound warmer and less V-shaped, I totally can see Make4 mimic the entire E-series w/ the right config. Someone in Japan have to have done it; I'll just have to find the right tutorial.

IMO Make4 should pretty much make E4000 and E5000 obsolete. That is, if you can find a way to buy the Make4. It is cheaper than E4000 and E5000, and neither has a real argument in terms of comfort against Make4. I can't wear Make4 to sleep, but neither can I wear E4000 and E5000. E500~E3000 should sell just fine, especially with E500 and E1000 using the same cable as Make4.

I take back what I said about the E4000 and E5000. There is a pretty critical flaw with the Make4 I didn't discover on my first listen: The diameter (of the cylinder body) of the IEM is only a few mm larger than that of the E-series, to accommodate the tuning mechanisms, making the Make4 just large enough to no longer be able to fit deep inside *my* ear canal. If you don't deep-fit your E-series, you are fine. I'm used to deep-fitting the E-series, and enjoy the extra wearing security and warm sound, but I cannot do that with the Make4. So at least for me there is still a comfort argument for E4000/E5000 over Make4.

Patiently waiting for some A5000 impressions to see if I'll grab a set or not. Anyone expecting them soon?

For the sake of science, a tear down of the Final E5000 by Hi Fri:

No wonder the bass is boomy and the leading edge is resonant, all the sounds that get pushed back in that closed off space behind the driver have nowhere to go but to resonate back.

I’ve removed the back cap of my E5000, it’s only there to prevent earwax coming in the housing and to make it look good. It only adds extra resonance to the sound

Apologies if this was asked already. Is there a sonic difference with final e black coloured and the transparent ones? Somewhere on Reddit I read that the transparent ones elevate the treble a bit and would like to try on my e5ks. Thanks

Yes the clear Final E tips boost treble more than the black final E tips.

based on my personal experience, yes. The transparent/red ones are brighter sounding.

Awesome. I enjoyed reading it. Ever since I bought my first final iem (E3k) I somehow fell in love with their offerings. I do have the A4000s and love it for a different occasion.

I will get the E4000s to complete my E series collection lol. I have also been eyeing on the B3. Did you have a chance to try it? Thanks
I have the B3. Alongside E5k, it is my daily driver. I adore how it sounds. 2BA drivers with no crossover, scales well with power.
