Another change in the setup added an Orchid NOS dac with the TDA 1541 chip. Also broke down and got a switch so I can connect 3 dacs to 2 amps easily.
I got a $75 switch but had to take it apart and re-solder all the connections...some folks just dont know how to solder! OMG! LOL !

What are the DACs, besides the Orchid? I think I see an iFi DAC (maybe). What's the 3rd?

Well, you have quite the sonic science project set up there. Very interesting!

I must say, the Final D8000 (looks like the Pro in the picture) is an ideal headphone to do this kind of critical listening.

My D8000 with the Pro's "G" on it is a perfect combination of high resolution with accurate tone & real musicality.

..and then there is this:

Damn! You've got a lot of nice stuff there...

I look forward to hearing how the Orchid compares to the other DACs.

I have my own mini science experiment going on w/my Orchid vs the very nice Audio GD AIO, the R2R-11 MK2. The Final D8000 is my main headphone for the comparison. I'll post about that in the Orchid thread.

I've had a similar experience. The D8000 makes differences between amps/dacs and what they are good or bad at more obvious than any other headphone I've had before. At the same time they sound pretty good on everything but can excel on the right equipment.

Hello. Can someone tell me how to change ear pads on the Final D8000/pro? Don't want to use too much force and break them. Thanks in advance!
Check out this video:

Soekris 2541 sitting on top of the HPA-1 on the left. The iFI is the OG Burr Brown chipped dac that has a NOS mode. Its a really decent dac as well

Thanks! Burr-Browns are solid and we use them in a way that allows us to bypass some of their datasheet limitations as well

Little Al Jarreau plauing, "All I Got" CD...

Stellar!
I've read many good things about the HPA-1. Hope to read your comments about how the D8000 Pro sounds with it...

I have posted stuff all over the place and its a wonderful amp.
Its also a world class preamp...
Class A all the time, its on all the time here except when we leave for several days.
IMO its design is very, very special...
Its not cheap but its not going to fly off the desk in a stiff breeze either!!
LOL
