Well I beg to differ - the AM1 has as much overall resolution as the AM2 and AM2A.  And the measurements clearly show this.  But if its what you hear - then its your opinion.  I just want to stress that it is only an opinion - but I can respect that (even though i don't agree with it).

Btw, I have am1 and am2 and prefer am1 (with IEM).

It might help if, with impressions, you all state what IEMs (or headphones) you are listening with, what music, and how loud. Since these three things have the most effect on impressions, they are pretty important.

Absolutely! With the various amp modules brings a multitude of permutations, pairings and alike.

This, to me, is what makes the X7 an invaluable source, allowing for no two days of listening to be the same. Of course the opposite can be gained too if required.

i've used the X7 with AM1+PS1000/GR10e/RS1/FI-BA-SS, and AM2+PS1000/GR10e/RS1/FI-BA-SS
 
i have also used the above head/earphones with the K5. the K5 sounds about equal to the AM1 to me.


I feel that the AM1 is a bottleneck to the X7, same for the K5.

The AM2 sounds a lot nicer with my head/earphones, than the K5/AM1.

Thank you, Karloil, my volume problem is fixed. In fact, it was never broken. The trick is NOT holding the volume buttons down. I need to press them multiple times to change the volume (when the screen is off).
