Couple things i need to correct myself on. 1 - I said it heats up in USB DAC mode with laptop... it actually doesn't, like at all after several hours connected to my laptop watching tv. It must have been beforehand when i was messing about transferring songs and settings (tho it still was hot to touch). 2 - After concentrating solely on the M6 for 2 days it does actually have some decent weight in the sub bass, so i take that back. It's not super deep but still more than adequate... mid bass does still have bit more presence tho.

Good! Yeah in time things do change. There is also this thing they call.. burn in? when you have to get used to the sound (cans/amp/dac) so your ears fully "understand" it.

I previously owned the BTR3, and liked the sound of this BT DAC very much, but was having connectivity issues when using the highest BT codecs (for more details, see this post: https://www.head-fi.org/threads/fii...hd-ldac-hwa-lhdc.886101/page-57#post-14703900)

I looked around for a DAP, which could play DNLA and Spotify and decided to go for the M6. The functionality is great, but sound-wise, I have the feeling it's not giving me the same as the BTR3 did.
The mids and highs are very good; clear and bright, but in the lows it sounds less .....eventfull?... almost flat. When listening to well produced rock or electro music it's not giving that OOMPH in the lows that puts a smile on my face when listening to this kinf of music.

Could this be because of a different DAC in both products?

I tried playing with the EQ in FIIO player, but the results are unsatisfactory....
Have you tried to change the 'digital filter mode'? You can do this by going to settings and then look under 'audio'... The setting you choose under 'digital filter mode' affects the way the music sounds, as far as I've read about this mode

"Burn in". Never heard of that before
Yeah i've used it quite freely here, the internet indicates it as "Burn-in is the process for exercising new audio equipment. ".. Something to do with the headphones or speakers (and I've extended it to amps). Some say it's bull and most probably it is :D but I simply use it loosely as "the time until you are comfortable with the new sound" of your equipment (in this case the M6 + whatever headphones or extras you use)

I keep it at Fast-Rolloff as this supposedly delivers the most accurate representation of the analogue signal, allthough this should be happening above the audible frequency range

Sorry I was being a smart ass.

I believe your brain/ears need to get used to the sound of a headphone, DAC, DAP, etc. Not totally convinced on the equipment going thru a physical change... BUT... there have been times I've had quite a radical change in sound that does make me wonder. Although I've a bad habit of listening to older equipment before trying something new out which can cloud my judgement. e.g. If you listen to a really bassy IEM just before trying something new your mind is comparing the two and you could come up saying the new one is bass shy... next day it could be actually quite competent in bass.

Don't want to start a discussion on burn in, there's plenty on here already.

Hi again. Finally I was able to use the usb output to connect the M6 to the ODAC. The problem is the ODAC (usb powered) requires more power to work than the M6 is capable of giving. It doesn't work unless you cheat the M6 by using a powered USB hub between both devices. It even works when just placing a non-powered usb hub between them.

I still have another question to ask here. Has anybody tried using the M6 as an USB DAC and succesfully play DSD files not converted to PCM? What I'm trying to do is use Foobar2000 to play native DSD files directly to the M6. I wasn't able to do it. I think I have all the required drivers installed in foobar but no sound at all. PCM works perfectly. Any suggestions? Thank you in advance.

Dear friend,

The DOP support in DAC mode is not supported by the M6 currently. We will estimate about adding it in later firmware update.

Best regards

Got my M6 today, first impressions are very good, however I have two questions....

1) how do I get Spotify on to the Dap?

And

@FiiO

2) any ideas why the DLNA doesn't pick up my nas? The fiio app on my phone does perfectly yet the M6 doesn't see it at all (WiFi etc all connected correctly) - no media servers are found apparently

Cheers

Dear friend,
1. You can copy the apk file of the qualified app to the M6, then open the File Management app, locate and click on the apk file to install it.
Spotify: click here
2. A user had similar issue with DLNA mentioned that the issue is with the server not fast enough. You may try another server for help instead.

Best regards

1. Want to confirm, FiiO Link is not available for iPhone FiiO apps yet?

2. What does the BT Control do in the FiiO iPhone apps?

Thanks.
Dear friend,

1. Yes.
2. The Bluetooth control in the FiiO Music APP ios version is used for the BTR3 or Q5.

Best regards
