IMO i also feel this is true. (That the m6 cannot put out strong deep bass)

......

To me this player is not even "neutral" in terms of balance in this regard.

That is totally not true if you look at these measurements.

Flat down to 20 Hz! Thank god! (otherwise it would be a faulty device)

That is right, but it sounded as if this is a bad thing (or even the fault of the M6), and I wanted to show that it is not, it is a good thing that the M6 has a flat frequency response curve and there is nothing wrong here with the M6.

So, the R3 is indeed in the skip (sold) and the m6 seems great so far. My only niggles are:

@FiiO
1) Quite slow at displaying the album covers on my SD card (1300 albums). Worth changing them all to 500x500?
2) I get a crackling sometimes when I load a track off my SD.
3) MQA tracks on Tidal aren't coming through to my Mojo as anything more that 16/44
4) Which SD file format does the m6 prefer? NTFS, FAT32 or ExFAT?

Cheers all.

@crashtest33 as it happens I've just made the same leap - R3 to M6, whilst the hiby had some decent qualities, it certainly doesn't have the functionality the M6 does and the M6 (for me) just seems to work. I can access my NAS, use Spotify, perfect gapless (apparently on MP3 as well, but not tried).

Mine isn't the quickest at displaying album art either, it kinds of catches up as I scroll but I'm good with that

@FiiO are you planning in selling separately the plastic case that comes with the M6? I myself would buy a pair or three to replace the one I am using now in the future.
I came across a nice looking PU leather case that I'm thinking of getting. Link.

Yep I did buy it (still don't have it, will take a while). What some have observed is that the screen ain't protected (it's not a pouch, it's a case). I will be buying soon a GPS bag to complement this.
But yeah the aliexpress leather case looks beautiful, eager to have it too.

Here is my personal experience with the four headphones that I own.

M6 sound great on AKG Y50 and N60NC Wireless (i.e. both wired, wireless with NC turned on); mid and high are clean while bass has a good quality and enough punch.

With VMODA M100 Over-ear which normally sound a bit too much bass punch/impact, M6 provide the bass just right but mid and high are not as clean as with the AKG headphones.

With Sennheiser Momentum M2 Over-ear which my favorite and sound very great on my HTC One Max (i.e. now completely dead), M6 sound just bad, very thin mid/high and crappy bass.

I think it's all about the matching, better take your earphone/headphone to try if possible.

Finally, I end up listen to M6 most on AKG Y50 which is the cheapest among my headphones

Yes synergy is of paramount importance.

Oops I have the PX100II (32ohms) hope they fare better (someone here tested them and said they sounded fine).
