Just try the other slot and see if it makes a difference. If it does, that’s your answer. As for the incompatible files, just convert them to flac if you want to play them on the M11, or load another media player to see if they play through that.
I'll try the other slot, that'll be interesting if it makes a big difference. As for the AAC files, I'm not sure how else to test them. They play with VLC and other things on linux, though those are probably all using the same shared libraries in the end. I've been meaning to try them on windows or attempting to play them with another App on the FiiO but haven't gotten around to it yet. (So much music to listen to, so little time). I confess I've been listening to Tidal mostly these days.
The M11 has been everything I had hoped it would be, AAC problems and file management issues notwithstanding. Really a swiss army knife of having your music where and when you want it.
Thanks for the response. Same results with a different 200gb card and similar times in either slot...weird.!! The 256gb, one and a half hours (timed) scan was in slot one two days ago, I am on latest Fiio update. All the aac files play ok on M11 when they eventually load...
While I am "nit picking" I repeat this previous post because no one answered it and I am now wondering if my M11 is possessed or something..!! To repeat:- Anyone noticed this small quirk or is it just my M11? when playing music on Fiio player if I switch on the equaliser, it doesn't do anything until I move any one of the equaliser sliders then it starts working. Happens every time I try and use the equaliser after it has been switched off for a while.
Just tried loading another player Onkyo music player, loaded all my music in two minutes. I think I have found my own answer Fiio music player is flawed..!! Will use third party player from now on...Otherwise I really do like the M11...that's why I have accepted these "quirks".
Pretty sure its its other way round with slot 2 being them slot with full speed and slot 1 been the speed reduced one to make it more compatible.
So, hey, FiiO, my AAC files that won't play on the device (but play fine on Linux with VLC), I can navigate the SD card directory just fine with the FiiO music app, including getting into the directory with all the AAC files. And it shows me a listing of all the files. But if I try to query track info or play an aac file in the directory a little balloon pops up on the bottom of the screen and says "file not found". Any ideas?
No not yet. I gave iBasso rep a chance to put a working unit in a 3 way vid I am doing with Shanling,FiiO and iBasso If no then I will do the vid with the tragic unit and explain what happened. Out of the box I did a vid (un boxing) and the file scan stopped at 71% 2x. I shoulda put that in the vid but...android based DAP with quirks on 1st FW is par for course. Looking back it was a red flag
While I can't speak from experience as I don't have an M11 (still using a Sony NW-A45), I have used the Fiio Music App on my Samsung Galaxy S8 and comparing it to other music players such as Hiby Music, it does take an extremely long time to scan a 128Gb card filled with Flac files. In comparison Fiio music app takes approximately 90 seconds to do a scan whereas the Hiby app only took 15 seconds. So in my opinion the scan is not properly optimised in coding on the Fiio music app and it has nothing to do with the hardware of the M11. This is something that can be fixed by Fiio if they get their programmer to actually optimise the code for their music app.
Well, I just reset my db and rescanned my 25k files, still in the slot nearer the headphone jacks. I removed all my AAC files that won't play to see if that made a difference. It still took 40+ minutes to scan the files, so that wasn't it. Next time I'll try the other card slot. As for why the aac files won't play, I'm guessing it's something about the way they were encoded.
