Guys, please test again Neutron (latest version 2.14.6) with the latest firmware 1.17.256.
I notice better definition, deep bass, better details, more punch, amazing.

Will definitely try this out!
more than 2 years haven't used my Neutron app.
Any issues on the UI? i.e. stopping by itself?

DX220 Eop notice
I truly hope this was a very good run.
Same as the other greats,
50, 80, 90, 120, 150, 200...

Ugh. I just purchased one for retail last week. Seems like a short run for a product like this, no? Loving it so far but can't help but fee like I picked the worst possible time to buy...

I don’t feel very comfortable knowing that this “new” product reached his end of life in somehow.. why? Because the max is out?
No, from the beginning of press releases of Max, it was clear that the max will not replace the 220.
Another product in the Ibasso line.
I firmly believe the max was born out of necessity w/ power hungry in ears & full size cans...

Don't u should think the opposite? You got a new device, whilst still available?
The Max count 999 production units only.
After that, they're gone as well.
Honestly, if i'm currently not saving my pennies for a new in ear, i'm on a hunt for a 228 myself.
What could be better than a 220 (max not included) but a 2 x 220s!

In theory they'll be discounted to move remaining stock if they're no longer in production. But I suppose in this hobby one can't sweat this kinda stuff too much. Still, it seems like a very short life span for a product like this...just over a year?

That's right. from history & based on friends (ibasso owners) where i auditioned their 50, 80 & 90, the only maintenance required after 2-3 years or so is the battery. They offer their services for a small fee.
They may not look like much, nothing flashy, but w/ normal care, they should last...

Interestingly Ibasso has stuck with the same DAC since dx200, with dx220 and max sharing the same one.
And with the latest firmware I think they continue to get even more out of it.

The successor to dx220 will in my estimation not make the 220 pointless , much like the dx200 is still someones preference as it is said to be more analitacaly.
And especially true if the new device is introduced with Amp 10 card that could go into our dx220 all the same.

IMO, the dx220 on 1.7 firmware and android sounds better than Mango OS the first time.
Both UAPP and Neutron show a noticeable improvement upon timbre and sound stage.
The Mango became a little bit warmish after this update.

Some of my impression of dx220 (on amp9 and new firmware) vs Hugo 2:
Hugo 2: Bigger soundstage. The mid is brighter and seems more "effortless". The bass hit harder. The Treble is brighter.
Dx220: Better detail retrieval (I can't believe it), a bit narrower ss but the image is better portrayed (by position). The mid is more liquid/smoother. The bass is lighter but more holographic.
Short impression vs Cayin N8: The N8 has an excellent soundstage, even bigger than Hugo 2 with bass that sinks as deep as your debtor. The background is dead silent and it has an amazing wow effect.
The dx220 is much more forgiving than Hugo 2 (duh).

Indeed, with Neutron I feel to hear more punch on the bass, more engaging, more soundstage, really impressive. I don't know if this is an improvement of Neutron or a worsening of Mango.
Furthermore, with Neutron the temperature of the device is quite low, while in Mango the device is always boiling... For now I am with Neutron. Brilliant combo.
